ive worked with acrylic quite a bit.... Easily = a grain of sand will scratch it.. NO, it wont be a huge scratch and you probably wont be able to see it, sure as ---- if you bump it with a piece of rock you'll know it. Maybe someone else that has an acrylic tank can chime in.

Yeah, swapping ballasts is no problem. I would deff. recommend using an electronic. Just match the ballast to the bulbs you want to use.... A 150 watt HQI ballast (electronic) would be an M-81 type. Here is a page to reference bulb type to ANSI rating to Ballast type...

I think the categorize the ballasts as hardware maybe? IDK the HD here has the fixtures and ballasts semi-together.... Ill have to look into that. I would like to do t5 HO actinics in addition to my halides.
