if i got anyone upset over my feelins i am sorry

HT - I dont mean to get off topic here, b/c I generally agree with your comments but you're drinking a bit of the corporate "cool-ade" here... The media is based on credibility, facts, and truth "the media", just by deciding what stories to air, and which stories NOT to air, distort (or define)...

    gastropod ID?

and this board rocks. so I searched "stomatella" on this board - the very 1st pic that came up was it exactly -- posed by Fire Eater just yesterday. Not only was Bang Guy 100% correct, he was kind enough to answer the same question TWICE inside 24 hours. Very pleased to learn from Bang Guy's...

    My tank is "crashing"/"recycling" :-(

bump...im interested in hearing a reply from a DSB supporter...any takers? I think "the sarge" has good ideas --- except I wouldn't FW dip the rock, and I'd mix, rather than "stir" the DSB just to release whatever is trapped --- then siphon most of that right out of the tank. Azoniic - I hope...

    electrcuted tank .

Good call Dad - GFCI all the way - mostly for our saftey. If the tank has a charge and you touch it - you just became the ground (ZAP!). Dad, question for you - is ther any difference between the in wall outlet box type, or the portable exetension cord type GCFI --- other than price?

    Who Works at a Petshop?

schweetpup - nice Iggy -- I had one for over 5 years. GREAT pet -- try to acclimate him/her to people early, it will get used to you and be a super cool companion. Keep the diet varied also - lots of different veggies. Eventually you will need a huge cage...

    wait out the red?

ok, thanks everyone. I'll cut back on the feedings for a while, and "baste" up the gook when I cant stand looking at it anymore...interstingly enough, I'm starting to get a good nice green algae growth going on on the glass where there was cyano...I'll post on this string later to let you know...

    My tank is "crashing"/"recycling" :-(

Azonic - I feel for you - good luck pulling through - keep up those changes... I dont think the temp lift would directly cause the ammonia spike, but it could cause something to die off (like a bivalve in your rock you can't see?) which would pollute pretty badly. With an ammonia spike like...

    wait out the red?

Thanks for all the advice. I’m using RO/DI, so I don’t think that’s the problem. I haven’t tested for Phosphates and nitrates are 0. The tank does get some direct light, but mostly the curtains are closed --- is this a temperature issue, or lighting spectrum??? I have 3 36” VHO on this tank, 2...

    wait out the red?

I've been searching the boards for cyanobacteria and red slime, so I'm aware of my options to clean up my bloom, what I havent been able to find out is if I can just wait this out? It's a transfered tank, when I moved it I stirred lots of detritus, which brought a diatom bloom, which has...

    Securing a Colt frag

put the glue directly onto the freshly cut piece of coral and a base??? I've been keeping the coral submerged --- the super (crazy?) glue just sticks to the slimey coral? REALLY???

    Best Live Rock?

I think there is a HUGE difference between cured and uncured rock. If you get good uncured and you "cure" yourself it's night and day. This is amazing stuff, covered with corals, bivalves, feather dusters --- not premium species, but beautiful none-the-less. You definitely risk unwanted...

    Securing a Colt frag

I bought a Colt frag on Friday - super excited - my 1st frag! I thought i'd secure it with a toothpick through the "trunk" and then rubber band the toothpick to a rock on each side - I saw something similar on this site and it seemed like the right idea...problem is I used the wrong type of...

    Best Live Rock?

I don’t want to encourage you to go off SWF.com...but if you do a search for aqua cultured live rock you'll get some good hits. The Florida stuff comes from a couple of sources - I've seen other people mention Tampa Bay Saltwater on this board, and the manufacturer of the man made Fiji is "Walt...

    Best Live Rock?

I'd highly reccomend aquacultured rock. Ther is a product from Fiji that is man made, and very inexpensive - supposed to be porus as well, but I have not seen it 1st hand. - I think this would make GREAT base rock. I have UNCURED live rock from florida. IF you are just seting up your tank, I...
