    Finally!! A jelly pic.

    Rye- is that film or digital you are shooting? If anyone goes to Vegas check out the sushi bar in the Bellagio hotel --- the entire back wall is about 30 feet by 10 feet of Jellyfish. There are three different species, and they are all accent lit differently in three seperate sections of the...

    My ugly tank

    I would just follow the rest of Broomers suggestions now that you know its not natural light. Just keeping that filter "dirty" may be the trick ;) Good luck!

    inverts in fish only

    bad, thats a really well stocked tank. How long have you had it up and running? What type of filtration do you use? Most of the guys on this board had me talked into DSB, but that's a nice stock w/CC...

    anyone know how to cure ich in a FW tank with shrimp???

    heat up is a good idea, but it's not doing the trick. The shrimp dont have the ick, but I can't use ick medicine withthe shrimp in the tank. most are copper based and that will kill them.

    Potable=OK?

    sorry - never got an answer on the potable=OK question. If plumbing is certified for drinking water is it ok for a SW tank? What about the pool/spa hose (its cool that its already corrogated and wont kink)

    Potable=OK?

    yep - I was thinking more like a 3" drain --- is there a calculation for gravity fed GPH??? Also, is it better to have the gravity retun go low into the display for added "gravity", or would the back pressure negate the extra "freefall"?

    Where to drill?

    Good point on the blockage Golfish -- I was in the plumbing asile of Home Depot (is the black PVC ok for tanks?) and saw some good ideas for protecting the drain on the outflow. Never thought about drilling high on the back and not using the standpipe (?)...

    DSB Poll

    This is a continuation of a thread I called "opinions", thanks to Mr. Angelfish for hooking me up with the polling feature! I'm trying to get some kind of "real" measurement of your opinions. Please take this poll and comment on how long your tank has been set up, how sucessful it is, and...

    HOw much light ??

    Assuming your fish are tropical, they get about 12/12 hours in nature. I'd buy a timer and have them go on/off at regular intervals. Staging the light may not be a bad thing so maybe you should get 2 timers.

    MR angelfish -- how did you set up this poll? Id be very interested in seeing the same kind of poll for depth of DSB, use of plenum and use of protein skimmer...

    Foolproof Siphon?

    Sorry, figured this one out (with some help)... Don't let the siphon suck air by keeping the end in the return above the bottom of the in-tank-overflow. That way it will not run dry and break.

    Foolproof Siphon?

    Is there a way to set up an overflow box so in a powerfailure the siphon wouldn't break when it begins pulling air form the internal box?? I'm concerend that when the power comes back on the top tank would be filled by the pump, and the broken siphon would not "drink" from the overfolw...

    Where to drill?

    I'm setting up an internal overflow system running into a sump below my tank. What are the pros/cons of drilling the outflow through the back of the tank, or the floor (yes, it is an acrylic thanks) Thanks!

    Potable=OK?

    I'm setting up a new plumbing system and have a couple of questions... 1) if NSF certified for potable is it ok for SW fish/inverts? 2) has anyone just simply used a PVC tube that's a inch or so lower than the water level as an overflow? I'd drill into the bottom (or back) of my Acrylic tank to...
