Well... the lighting should be enough...What's your salinity at..I personally would have also drip acclimated it- I've just got in the habit of doing that for all new additions, makes the transition easier...I'm not sure there is a lot you can do for it at this point..wait and watch.

    Algae - Help!

Yes, just leave it, that's quite early in the cycle IMO and the diatoms are going to look very bad for a little while but they will go away and your ammonia levels will fall... just keep monitoring the water perameters and be very patient. This is the hardest part.. waiting

    Fowlr.....or More =)?

If they are regular flourecents then I would imagine you would have to upgrade. You woudn't have to go all out and get MH for softies, maybe some t-5's, or VHO..BUT: you may end up like many people really enjoying the coral aspect and wind up wanting some other sps or lps in which case you may...

One large bristleworm eating a snail-

Some of them do sting to the point of being dangerous (fire worms I think) this isn't one of those but I don't want to touch it none the less. (little hairs or spikes tell my sub concious: Don't touch) If I can trap it I will be removing it with a tweezers!!

    Star polyps are missing

How big of a tank? I wouldn't worry about them yet... they close up like that but will likely come back out.. they do like fairly good water flow and decent lighting though. I dosed Iodine one time and mine closed up for almost a week.. they came back out though and are now growing and...

    Algae - Help!

How long has it been cycling? I wouldn't do anything yet.. when the bacteria population gets high enough they will start to break it down and covert it to nitrite and then nitrate.. the diatoms or brown stuff growing in your tank in normal at this point and nothing to worry about yet.

what do I need to start

The bigger the tank the better. You will need sand, rock, protien skimmer, heater, hydrometer/refractometer, test kit, a good light, power heads, and then it depends on what you want to have in the tank....corals need more stuff/work... fish only are easier to care for...what do you want the end...

If I can/do trap it I will deal with it long enough to photograph and measure though.. this is going to be interesting. :help: I do need to know the best way to trap still though....

One large bristleworm eating a snail-

I'll be honest with you all.... . I don't like it. I don't want to touch it and I don't want to get too close to it, it just creeps me out. The worse part is I really don't know how much longer it is.... I know of at least a foot...but it just kept going. Soooo....I'm gonna try and trap it...

One large bristleworm eating a snail-

Just happened to walk by the tank and found out I have one huge bristle worm in my tank, it had it's mout end inside a snail shell eating away, I found an empty snail shell earlier this week also. This worm seems to secreate (sp?) a mucous coat in areas, I have seen this mucous a number of times...

Hatch n' feed brine shimp cultivator

I would disagree, when they first hatch they have some nutrional value.. they just lose it fast but if they are hatching and going right into the tank..that's not so bad

Whats the deal with Pistol Shrimp

I have one and they are loud... I've heard they can break glass but I've never seen it. I would also add that they like to dig a lot and you will almost never see him. I've had one for a long time and the only time I've seen him was when I moved the tank
