    Pretty sure that is a discarded clam foot. I wouldnt worry about it too much, but I would watch your clams closely. Sometimes it can mean a clam on the downslide, but other times they recover.

    Bleaching is caused by a die-off zooanthellea. Since suncorals dont have any zooanthellea, they really cant bleach.

    They DO need to have some shade, they are non-photosynthetic and will be damaged by direct contact with high lights This is not true. They will not be damaged by high lights. Sun corals are non photosynthetic which means they cannot benefit from light, but it does not mean they will be damaged...

    Need 30 inch lights

    I never had any problems finding lights. They are readily available online and my LFS stocks them also. Normal output or not, The t5 units lit the tank very well and all of my lps and softies were very happy.

    I have 3 sets of the coralife t5 twinstrips. Each has a 10k t5 and a actinic t5. for a total of 36 watts per strip. they dont have moonlights but they are 30" and should fit inside your canopy
