Yes I know watts per gallon is outdated, but i dont care what kind of PAR your fixture has 1.5 watts per gallon isnt going to cut it. And yes depending on how the tank was seeded and whats going on in the tank, how many fish, inverts etc.. 5 months can be a very new tank.
