It's been a while since I've had my tank running (hurricane Isabell destroyed everything) and I' getting ready to restart it. I have a sump system ready to go now, Power Compacts, VHO's and want to build a plenum DSB along with my Rock (not quite LR at the moment) My question is - I want to put...

how many fish in a 150?

Well, since you've got a spotted grouper you should be ok - it's going to eat some of those other fish when it gets big enough  a 150G provides a lot of options and yes, you should be able to put an emperator Angel with the group. I still suggest you remove the spotted Grouper. If...

    Need HELP with tank decision

Depends on what you want to put into the tank. A smaller tank obvioulsy limits the types and amount of species you can put into the tank, and the amount of effort to keep pristine water conditions is also directly realted to the size of the tank. I have a 55G and it's not nearly large enough to...

So how many in a 29 gallon?

I hate ot burst your bubble but I'd suggest you go with fresh water fish - 29 Gal is really too small for salt water. you could trade up for a 75 Gallon and really enjoy the hobby. MY 55 gallon tank is too small for most fishes I really want to enjoy.

    maroon clown tank size?

Since like all the rest of us you'll most likey want to add more fish and animals later I'd opt for a 90 Gallon tank. that'll put in the safety zone for maroons of course and you can add a lot more - even a hippo or purple tank just to mention some really cool fishes that work really well with...

    Snorkeling

I was in Oahu this summer and the one I bought sucked! the one thing I discovered was that if you're serious you will have to get one with light filtering - when you go under the water there is some UV blocking and it effects the pictures you'll be taking.

Cycle Complete Just In Time For Change

Just get a bucket and fill it with some of the water in the tank and scoop the sand into it and move it over to the new tank, no problem. Live sand and Live rock are as hearty as anything in the tank. You can buy some play sand and put it in the tank and use the live sand to see the new sand.

Nitrite Spike STILL- PLEASE HELP sepulatian

I didn't read all the responses but if you're havig a nitrite spike your tank is cycling - you've either added something new in the tank, had too many animals or haven't waited long enough for it to settle down. Stop doing water changes and wait for the tank to complete it's cycle. Also - the...

advice on a sump: caulerpa or media or liverock!?

IMO: From what I've seen the nmost successful sub-systems use mirical mud, live sand, some live rock, mangrove and caulerpa seeweed with some snails and limited but reversed lighting on the sub-system. This is not the same as a Sump system, you rall want to wall off the environment in the...

    Sump gathering water!! :(

Not sure about raising the overflow box but you shouldn't put a control valve on the inlet - only on the output to regulate the exit flow. You may need to get a higher output pump.
