Ocean Clear canister have an o-ring?

I have a new Ocean Clear 375 (uv+pleated filter) and the manual is pretty bad. It talks somewhere about an o-ring sealing the lid, but I find no o-ring. Is there supposed to be one? Thanks.

    puffer died mysteriously

Came home yesterday (Tuesday) to find my 7" porcupine puffer (Stewie, because his face was like the cartoon character baby on Family Guy) breathing hard on the bottom, and here at 2 a.m., he's dead. Brought him home Saturday morning. and he seemed perfectly fine up through Tuesday morning. Did...

    best way to vent canopy?

I have a black oak All Glass canopy on my 150. I'm running some bright lights that really heat up the tank. Before I go with a fan, I'm thinking that venting the top of the canopy (the big door) would be good, but I can't decide the best way to make a really good looking vent. I've looked at...

How to really know if fish are getting right amount of food?

Got a 150 with a spotted puffer (6"), porcupine puffer (7"), queen angel (6"), and banana wrasse. I try to follow the "2 minute" rule (feed what they'll eat in 2 minutes), but these guys will eat indefinitely. I don't want them to go hungry, but then I don't want unnecessary waste in my tank...

    stocking vs. maintenance?

How much will reducing stocking of a 150 fowlr aggressive tank from about 6-7 (I know, I know) fish to 2 or 3 reduce maintenance? Thinking of pulling out 3 triggers, leaving a puffer, wrasse, and angel. Will it make much of a difference in water quality, need for testing, etc? Thanks.

    Mag 24 won't start?

I'm replacing a return pump with a Mag 24. Before installing it, I wanted to make sure it was working, and I wanted to hear how loud it is. So, I submersed it in my RO trash can, allowed the air to escape, and plugged it in. Nothing, except a very small hum. No water movement. Does this mean...

    white algae?

Yes, some of this rock came out of a storage tank where it had been for a month while switching tanks to a tank with 4x96 watt compact bulbs. Huge change, I suppose.

    how/need to bring pH down?

My Pinpoint salinity monitor just went nuts, too. Worked fine for a few weeks, not it's off by a good 20%. I like the idea of having a simple, digital, tester, but I suppose it isn't worth anything if it's off or required recalibration all the time.

    white algae?

I'm suddenly geting bright white growth on my live rock. All parameters are very normal, except pH a little high at 8.5. I've never seen this before. Any ideas?

    how/need to bring pH down?

In my 150 aggressive tank, my Pinpoint electronic pH monitor apparently has been misleading me (despite careful calibration). It has been reading 8.0-8.1, but upon double checking with both test strips and a fancier chemical test tube test, I'm getting 8.5. I had been adding buffer to bring it...
