I am in the process of purchasing my lighting for my DIY canopy. I was going to buy 1 250 watt MH with 10,000K bulb. Do I need a p/c or vho fixture as well. I was told that you need to have the p/c or vho so it can replicate sunrise and sunset. Would having only a MH be harmful to my corals...
Was looking for and overflow box and ran across this one. Would this work well for a 38Gallon 36"x12.25"x20"? I would install a stand pipe on it. It is rated for 600GPH. It has a 1 inch bulkhead fitting included.
I will have 60Lbs of LR, and a 2" sand bed using and aquarium calculator I come...
I am in the process of setting up a 38 gallon reef tank dimensions 36"x12.25"x20" with 60 lbs of LR and 50 lbs of live sand. I built the stand a couple of years ago for a FW setup and didn't leave enough room underneath for a sump/ref because at that time I had no Idea what one was. I built it...
I was thinking of attempting to build my own acrylic tank, but some of the people I have talked to have said not to because it is very hard to get a good glue joint and it would be dangerous if I did it myself.
Should I attempt it or not?
any comments?
So a yellow, kole, and a coulple of percula's would be ok for the 100 gallon? Would I be able to have a couple of blenny's and some yellowheaded jawfish as well? I plan on using a 40gallon sump/ref.
Thanks again
What if I were to go with a 100 gallon tank 60"x18"x20"? Could I have a kole, a white cheek, and a yellow. Along with a couple of percula's?
Thanks everyone for your much needed help.
I am going to start a 80 gallon reef tank with dimensions of 48"x20"x20". I would like to have 2 percula's, one yellow tang, and one kole tang. Would this be overstocking? I will be using live rock, and a 30 gallon sump/ref with LS & LR.

Thanks Bang Guy. I have read your thread on your 900 gallon lagoon. Simply amazing. What about a hippo tang or a clown tang with the yellow? Would they stress each other out? As a general rule how many gallons per inch of fish per tank?
What about a hippo tang or a clown tang? Would those be better? Would they get along with the yellow tang? Or is one tang per tank recomended?
Thanks Again
I am going to be building a 85 gallon acrylic reef ready tank with dimensions of 48"x20"x20". I would like to keep a couple of percula's a naso tang and a yellow tang. Would this be to much fish for my tank? I will be using a 40 gallon sump/ref. with Live rock and Live Sand in the system.
Thanks

I would like to make my own live rock using base rock. Can I still get the purple colors by doing this. If so the purple colors on fiji lr must be algae right?
