Has anything like this happened to you?

A recent post had a keeper accidently dump an entire canister of food in the tank. Hey! at least you can blame the mishap on your son. Wait until you get to take credit for the mistake yourself! :hilarious :hilarious :hilarious

    Conch

Agreed! I have had many a snail come to an untimely death by hermits looking for a shell they did not even want. Normally this occured while they were crossing the glass divide (on the rubble in the bottom).

Cleaning Gravel Under Live Rock - Is It Needed?

Absolutely, Sandbeds up to 3" are basicly trouble free. It is only when you are looking for a high bioload tank and need the benefits of a deep sandbed that issue can appear. Anyone else have comments to add?

    Royal Gramma

Agreed! I have one and there are more problems with it not showing it's face than being aggressive. Maybe a bit teritorial, but not aggressive. Just not more than one Blasslet to a tank (unless it is a REALLY big tank).

Cleaning Gravel Under Live Rock - Is It Needed?

Very thick SB ( I am talking 5" and greater) can cause Sulfur dioxide to form from the anarobic (lack of oxygen) bacterial process. Sand beds are packed tightly and do not allow for much oxygen exchange (this is the whole purpose). However, if there are no sand sifters (stars, clams, CC) the...

    u.v sterilizers and corals

I run one as well, but I keep the UV on a seperate system than the filters. I have very clear water (I think the best benifit you are going to find) and never had an ICH outbreak in 15 years. It should be noted that proper QT proceedures are more to blame for the lack of outbreaks than the UV...

Cleaning Gravel Under Live Rock - Is It Needed?

I have used CC for years. There is a lot more work to keeping it, and as promisetbg said it does nothing to help on nitrate issues. However, LR will offset this issue (high nitrates) if the tank is not overpopulated. I do have a tank with CC and a covering sandbed and that works fine as well...
