Only 20 lbs of LS and about 16 lbs of LR. Had a shrimp in it for a couple days and the cycle has kicked off. However, the PH levels went through the roof. Did a 10% water change last night and will retest the levels today. Any suggestions on how to bring it down?

Its a 24 in hood on a 30 in tank though. The place I went to didn't have any legs that would work. Hanging it shouldn't be bad though. It'll give me an extra self on top of the L bracketsl. :D

Thanks for the replies. I got the Coralife PC 130 watt hood w/moonlight. Its a 24 inch hood and my tank's 30 inches, so I'm gonna hang it off of some brackets.

Got a nice 6 lb LR for the center of the tank. Also got the PC lighting in and changed the background paper (thanks YellowTail). Amonia levels have not risen yet though. Still right around .25. Should we through in a frozen shrimp to kick off the cycle?

I'm still pretty new to all this, but would PC lighting require just a different bulb, or a whole new hood system completely? Either way, do you know where I can purchase it?

Thanks for the response Boomper. What are you using instead of the sump? Just a regular wet/dry along with the skimmer? Have you had any problems with nitrate levels or anything else?

It will ultimately be a small reef tank. We'll be picking up the lighting and LR later this week. Thanks for the tip on the background paper. After we get something in it we'll probably change it.
