    First SPS

looks great for a $4.99 frag! besides being browned out it looks healthy. good water quality and stability should bring the color back although with sps that can take months to happen (at this point you probably dont even know what color its going to be ). be sure to take note of lighting needs...

If money was not a issue what salt mix would you used for a reek tank?

Instant ocean just like I'm using now. I simply like the parameters I'm getting from it (10dKH, 400ppm ca, 1350mg). I find this easier to dose and work with then typical reef salts (with elevated ca and lower alkalinity). Is $20 for a more expensive bucket of salt really going to put anyone in...

    AC14K bulbs

DE aquaconnect and DE phoenix are the same bulbs according to sanjay testing (both output and color spectrum are identicle, multi examples tested). the SE MIGHT be different (no test to confirm one way or the other). you havent specified WHAT 15k bulb you have, it could be blue or white...

Long nosed Hawkfish -vs- 6 line Wrasse.......HELP!

my sixline is just the opposite, doesn't trouble ANY new additions (it was my 1rst fish). He wont back down to anything that troubles him but has been 100% peaceful as far as being the aggressor. Really depends on the individual. Most accounts of sixline aggression seem to be highly variable...

    Euro Reef RC80

wow the seller is an idiot. its clear from his own pic that isn't even close to being an RC180 and would take 2 minutes to verify its a RC80. he knows good and well thats not a RC180 by now even if he didn't before (which he did).

I need to replace my RO unit, I'm thinking RO/DI

here is there explanation. You can buy it if you want to (basically testing to ensure they source only 98% rejection rates. I assure you the source is still the same wether or not the membranes are or arent) just keep in mind we didn't just start using RO units and TDS units yesterday so if...

    Euro Reef RC80

I assume you have a 75-90g with sump in which case the RC80 is fine unless you are overstocked. an RC180 would be major overkill as Euroreefs arent overated. the difference between an RC80 and remora pro in both capacity and skimming ability is MAJOR. AquaC Remora Pro Euroreef RC80

    Coral banded eating fish?

I have two clowns in a biocube 14g with a full size coral banded shrimp (so there aint alot of getting out the way room). there is NO WAY possible it could eat or even beat the clowns. when I first got it and it wasn't sure if the clowns where a threat or not it would claw at them all the time...

Can you use pickling lime to add calcium?

these add carbonates too and will raise alkalinity. dont use these if ALL you want is to raise calcium. Calcium chloride isn't expensive and WAY more concentrated than pickling lime/kalk (even the watered down 2 part formulas).

    Euro Reef RC80

I know but I didn't want the guy trying to fix it replacing a part thats not suppose to be there. I guess I quoted the wrong quote. Originally Posted by zsqure Is there a difference between PVC and PVCI? The fittings are 1" PVCI. If that means anything.

    Euro Reef RC80

Major scrood on just it being an RC80 alone much less the prior repair gone bad. How did you pay for it? If it was anything other than check or money order I'd promptly dispute and if possible retrack payment.

Why is my water so cloudy?

yes stagnant zero flow causes all kinds of problems of which cloudy water is the least. removing the powerhead is not an option. I cant put a finger on the cloudy water but at the very least whatever is suspended probably cant settle or get filtered out without circulation (new rock usually has...

    green dust

my bet would cutting down the light cycle will help ALOT. Try running the actinics 1hr prior the halide, then the halide for 4hrs and finishing up with the actinics for 1hr or just running everything 5hrs instead of 8hrs. running a magfloat across the glass every 4-5days or so is to be expected...

    How to feed Royal Gramma?

still acclimating. he may dart out of the cave to grab food at the most but believe me they are pigs once they are out in the open and part of the community. they will eat anything and everything aggressively. at this point watch him during feeding as this will probably do the most for enticing...

    dKH value falling?

normal. corals, coralline, snails and everything else that use calcium use up carbonate at nearly 3 times the rate of calcium so frequent (or daily for a fully stocked mature reef) carbonate/bicarbonate is the norm. I dose 10ml of seachem reef carbonate daily on my 30g to maintain 8dKH and its...
