n/m I'm pretty sure it's dead :( That's really sad. It seems to be shedding bits but doesn't smell as badly as I thought. (Like fresh scallops) Do they smell when they die?

Dipping won't help algae. If you post a pic of it someone here will probably be able to ID it and tell you best how to remove it :) Most Algae has to be removed manually. edit: also check ot flric's suggestions on salty_gal's thread about zoos with algae
