I used distilled water before I bought my RO/DI unit with good results. Distilled does remove come things benificial for your reef. IMO, it is better to remove good and bad then to add back in the good rather than adding the bad with the good. Your salt mix adds back in a good portion of what...

Yes you can definitely keep soft corals and some sps corals but for almost the same cost you could get 250w and you could keep just about anything you want!
