SO do pumps that are fully submerged and placed lower in the tank basically do nothing because they are not providing surface agitation? Or is it good to have pumps causing surface agitation and pumps that are placed lower in the water column to keep the water circulating? I did some research...

One of the things I think my 24 gallon aquapod is lacking is surface agitation. All I have is a rotator pump that comes out of the predrilled hole in the upper left hand corner and I have an airstone in the back right hand corner. What are the rest of you using?

Welcome to the boards! I started off with a 12 gallon aquapod too. Now I have a 24 gallon aquapod with Metal Halide lights....Not too much of a size upgrade, I know. GOod luck and enjoy the hobby!

Just make sure that the new clown you purchase is much smaller then the clown you already have....I believe that will make it easier for them to get along because the small one will give in to the larger one. How big is your tank? I get RO water from the grocery store to use to make water for my 24 gallon. If you tank isnt huge, you can just purchase the RO water for like $0.40 a gallon which is pretty reasonable if you have a smaller tank...
