OMG i've been to a couple of LFS with massive Apt. outbreaks. Heck I had even been too the Texas Sea Center out here where they have many massive and few small tanks on display for people to see and i've noticed one of there 30g's is full of massive Apt.

since you still have some livestock I would leave the saline alone for now since you just raised it significantly. Maybe wait a few days and do the same process again except maybe change less water or use a lower saline water change so as not to change it so quickly again. a reading of 1.023...

they dont need MH from what i've seen. I've seen a site where someone grew a green digitata under 32w pc in a 7g.

If you are starting a new tank with no animals, you will just put the rock into your tank with plenty of water flow, and just let the cycle begin.
