this all depends on what coral you want to keep in the future. if sps go mh if lps softies vho may be the way to go i assume you have a retro hood now, where the lights are enclosed in a casing. built from a factory

k id keep the carbon.. but take out bio balls. and if there is room add some ls and rock rubble :) gotta have a safe haven for pods!

what type of filter is this... good job on removing bioballs... if it were me id remove the sponge because crud will build up and that is alot of maitnece to clean... is this filter hang and or do you have a small sump/ fuge?

typically if your bringing home cured lr from a lfs it is safe to add.. just find out how long it has been there

my qt tank runs a cpr hangon skimmer reg floresents for lights and 3 maxi jets.... remeber this doesnt need to be a full fleged reef... make sure that salinity, temp, and all other paremeters are equal as to your new display.....

it the sence that all inverts pods ect that live in it will die... then yes it is killing it... but it also stores it and emits it slowly over time... and that will keep on killing snails crabs, pods ect ect

copper will leach into your live rock and slowly leach out over time... boiling your lr and starting over might work... but copper also gets into the silicon and will slowly leach out. as drastic as it may sound buy a new tank, ls, and lr.. as this is the ONLY way to totally rid it from your...
