    heniochus

I really wanted one as well... I researched everywhere and got totally different opinions on every specie, but I talked to someone who had H. acuminatus, and it tore through every coral and polyp he had immideatly, so I passed... again, its a hit or miss with this one, but probably a miss...

    ayyy.... new hitchhiker :|

thanks for the compliments :D are you sure its a tubeworm? its tentacles seemed pretty 'meaty'... not like the usual feathers... and the spirals are conjoined into a disk... I didnt mention it, but it's not like a usual tubeworm "spiral"... hmmmmmmmm is there such a limpet? or maybe it IS a...

    ayyy.... new hitchhiker :|

Today, I noticed along the sides of the tank glass, there seem to be small colonies of these little guys. They are spaced maybe a couple inches apart, and range from 1mm to minute sizes that I can barely tell are there. They are white in appearance, have a hard shell, and adhere to the glass...

    skimmers vs. nitrates

I just came across something saying skimmers are a good weapon against nitrates... I never really thought of it before. I dont use a DSB, and am skimmerless, and my nitrates are up at a constant ~10-15... how would a skimmer affect the nitrates? thanks, Drew :)

    Newbie got fish (help)

new2gether, I think he can tell theres a lot of work involved in such a tank... can you? a 20 gallon could never house ANY trigger or grouper... let alone both. they are too big, aggressive, and messy!!! btw, a dsb is a deep sand bed. basically, its main objective is to create a suitable...

*best* clown pair that will be fine without an anemone?...

I really do like tomatoes... all Ive seen around here [without having to mailorder] are tank-raised false/true percs. I might go with the ocellaris, but... has anyone had any experience with tomatoes w/o an anemone?... Drew :)

*best* clown pair that will be fine without an anemone?...

I know clowns dont need anemones, but I know they do make them happy. is there a species of clown that does not associate with anemones in the wild? Its very difficult for me to get any sort of tank-raised species around here, and I wont mail order... I really wanted a pair of tomato clowns or...

    These 2 tangs *okay* in a 90?...

yup, I have a lot of LR... about 140+lbs... and calm down lotr... Ive had it up for 3 months and it took me forever before I even considered adding a fish. and if I put the kole in, the angel wouldnt go in for at least another month... just to clarify so you dont pop a gasget or anything. I was...

    These 2 tangs *okay* in a 90?...

I already have a royal gramma, a flame angel, and a lot of inverts. Its been up for just over 3 months, and my macro is everywhere. I just wanted to add a juvenile kole tang... I will be adding another Centropyge sp later... havent decided... I know koles are not very aggressive, and I will be...

    Which tang would YOU choose?...

Im not waiting for adding a tang last anymore... I want one in there now! ;) theres too much macro for me to be pulling out and my flame angel doesnt do much of a job... I have low lighting, and the razor caulp grows these long strands that wave around and get stuck on everything... they...

    Anglers reef safe?

I know they will go after small fish/inverts, but has anyone had any experience with them in a reef? Drew :)

    reef grazers...

asides from tangs, what other fish have you had good experience with for keeping macro levels low? and that is reef-safe? also, which tangs do you think are the best MACRO GRAZERS? Ive heard Acanthurus spp, then Zebrasoma spp... then neither... I just want to know what youve had good...

    any *peaceful* grazers?

In my 2.5 month old 90 gallon, I dont have a sump or refugium it is a reef in progress with a few small corals, and a LOT of macro growing everywhere... I wanted a pb tang to go in there eventually, but I know he would probably go last due to aggression reasons... I was thinking of a heniochus...

    Small triggerfish?

I just want to comment on YOUR idea of stocking tanks... you are being COMPLETELY selfish. cramming all those fish in such a small tank. think about how they could live in the wild? Yes I know every fish has billions of gallons to swim in, but being responsible pet owners, we give them as much...

Cycling a tank with household ammonia

I know many many many people who use PURE NH3 to cycle FRESHWATER tanks... I dont know if it would be the same for sw... its not a crazy idea, a lot of people do it, but Ive never known someone to use it for sw... you can be the first ;) but, if it is pure, I dont see why not... all I can...

    Small triggerfish?

yes. cons are supposed to spawn in good conditions. but they would probably be the "kings" of your wayyyyy-overstocked 29 gallon. trust me, convicts would spawn in a mud puddle in the middle of a thunder storm in freezing weather if given half a chance. they are NOT hard to spawn and all it...
