Anyone with a Puffer in their Reef?

I guess it's how you raise them, and their individual personality. These guys seemed to have luck with it. http://www.porcupinepuffer.com/puffers/

Anyone with a Puffer in their Reef?

So, do any of you have any puffers in your reef? I've successfuly kept snails, shrimp, and crabs with my large porcupine puffer, so I was curious if I could add some reefage to the tank. Thanks. Ben

    How deep is your DSB?

LeBoeuf, please explain the 0" dsb. What other filtration do you use? Why did you switch? What did you have before? You know, give me the full 411. Much appreciated. Thanks. Ben

    How deep is your DSB?

Just wondering how deep your sand bed is? Mine is between 4 and 6 inches. I just got rid of a 16" snowflake eel that was wreaking havoc on the sand bed, so hopefully it will be functioning correctly now. Ben

    What is your Filtration?

Just wondering what you people in the reef community are using for filtration. I might be switching from aggressive to reef, so every little bit of info helps. Thanks. Ben

aqua c remora pro surface prefilter

It's nice if you want to hide your pump, and it does help to get rid of the tiny bubbles. I had one on mine, then got sick of it. I think I actually threw it away. Ben

    Rio 1400 Replacement?

I need to replace my Rio 1400 that came with my AquaC Remora Pro. Something with the same size slip feed would be the easiest. Any suggestions? Thanks. Ben

I recall a swf member that was building custom hoods, probably around a year ago. If you are out there, please get in touch with me. I would really like to take you up on your offer to build me a custom hood. Thanks. Ben benk777@wi.rr.com

    What does your Puffer do?

My porc puffer sits at the bottom of the tank, in the far corner all day. The only time he comes out and swims is around 10:15 PM, since he knows this is feeding time. I was just wondering if any of your puffers share this personality, or if yours are more active? Thanks. ben

    Filter on Return Pump Necessary???

I was just wondering if it was necessary to have a filter on my return pump in my sump? Wouldn't it be benneficial for some of the sump critters to be whisked into the main tank? There would be no risk of large things getting into the pump since nothing large can get into my sump. I could...

    Banded Cat Shark Ate Already!!!

He is around 7 inches and is in a 125. I plan on getting a 300 for my birthday in July so he'll have a nice new home. From what I've gathered, I probably shouldn't keep him in the 125 for more than 1 year. ben

    shark egg

Also, your LFS should not be selling these eggs. Female leopard sharks give birth to live young that have developed from eggs inside of her, which means that if these eggs are indeed leopard shark eggs, they were ripped out from inside her, which probably killed her. I wouldn's support an...

    shark egg

Please please do not purchase that egg if it truly is a leopard shark. These sharks grow quickly, are very active, and need LOTS of swimming room. Leopards grow up to 6 feet long!!! It might be OK in a 500-1000 gallon tank for a short period, but after that you'll need either a huge tank or a...
