Xenia love iodine. They pump like crazy when you poor some in near them. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think any other corals are bugged by it. I've got leathers, mushrooms, hammer, star polyps, etc and they never get bugged by it. I am interested to find out what someone else has to say though.

sweet! looks like you got some species of mushrooms (i think). Don't worry they aren't a problem if they are mushrooms. I had a rock for over a year and then one popped up.

how do these things actually work? Does water just fill up in that little tank? Where do you get the water from? We are building a new house and I'd like to put one in my bathroom next to my tank but I wouldn't know where to put it?

THanks bang. I'm kind of curious how someone would reattach it to a rock if I cut it down a bit though? Do you know? Or would it just be used for food or something?

I changed my coral life 50/50 about 3 months ago and those things are supposed to have 12 months of guaranteed life. I changed my daytimes at the same time... maybe it is the daytime lights causing it though cause only the front part of the sand (right under the daytimes) is what gets this junk...

If your poly filter was already brown then you have something that's off the charts and that's and that's probably why your fish died. Maybe let the water cycle for a little while longer before trying to add something else.

dude if they're still alive then they have a chance even if it's a small one. If you just don't want them anymore... at least take them to your LFS and donate the fish to them. Oh and one more thing. You better learn some patience pretty fast with this hobby or your not gonna be very successful...
