do you have actinic bulbs? those make all of the colors more vibrant. also +1 on the flow. on my first reef I made the mistake of slacking off on buying good powerheads: result, a lot of slime and diatoms

the best T5 lighting fixtures have individual reflectors,thus maximizing the individual bulb output. as jst mentioned, you need to have the right lighting fixture and bulbs. I myself use T5's on my tank, and I keep all types of corals. A good lighting fixture is the nova extreme pro. It is a six bulb fixture with individual reflectors. Some of the best bulbs out there are ATI's.
