    6Watts/Gal

It's really the quality of light more than it is the wattage. What type of lights do you have. Watts/gallon is just not all it's cracked up to be.

    Sand bed

4-6 inches is what you need for a DSB. Dr Ron has great essays on DSB's and that's the numbers he uses.

    water temp is high! 83

My temp ranges from 82-84. I try to keep it at 83. The Xenia starts to retract a bit if it goes above 84, but other than that *shrug*.

    DSB in a Nano?

Patience, patience, and then a little more patience. That's what I've found here. I have a 35 gallon with a DSB I'm using to cure some LR I have getting ready for my 75 gallon. It's been setup since Friday and it's still not clear as of Monday morning.

Pics of my 10 gallon Nano

6 days after I put the LR in, my params were Am=0 Nitrite=0 Nitrate=2-3. My hardest thing to stabalize was my pH. But ever since I've used my buffer it's been fine.

Pics of my 10 gallon Nano

I do a water change once a week. Between 1-2 gallons depending on how things are looking that week. No filter besides the LR and LS. I've been cutting back on feedings to twice a week and I'm going to experiment with shortening the photo period starting this week. Just tonight I've found...

    50 hermits too many?

Some people use that rule 1 per gallon. But when I said I would only get at most 10, I was talking about if I had your 35 gallon tank I would only get 10. Hermits can be oppurtunists ... that means they could take 'bites' out of things you don't want them eating. You want to get a nice balance.

    50 hermits too many?

I have 2 hermits in my 10 gallon nano. That is all I need. I don't want many claws in my tanks. I would say 50 would be _way_ to many. I would probably go for no more than 10. Get Nassarius snails and they will perform the same function as the hermits on the sandbed _and_ somewhat on the...

    If i get a UV

How long have you had the fish that died? Tangs are notorious for getting parasites. I always though they were the first to come down with things. If you hadn't had those fish for long, could it be possible that they had the parasites when you got them? Do you quarenteen your fish first...

    If i get a UV

Have you thought about 2 of the natural ways some people keep parasites out of their tank and off their fish? 1) Garlic 2) Cleaner Shrimp I'd just hate to see your reef go down hill just to get rid of some parasites that you may be able to get rid of other ways.

Got my rock in and up,see

Nice arrangement. How big is the tank? Where is the LR from (which part of the world)?

At my favorite LFS here in the Detroit area. They mostly have crappy rock, but every now and then they get something like this (18 lb piece). I've got a 35 gallon going with Southdown and 2 pieces about 1/2 this ones size curing. I hope that in the next couple of months to find another 15-20+...

Golfish... How much juice you pulling...

Ironreef Nine is supposed to be a 6 person tub. I'd let it be 6 people if the other 5 were women, but I don't like it when it's 3 couples. It's really more of a 4-5 person. I live in Michigan so the bill is really the heating of it that affects the cost of it more.

    1st Coral?

Mushroom and or Xenia. The Xenia are nice to start with because you can notice the growth and they will tell you exactly how good your water is. Kind of an early warning system.

    Finally found the BEAST??!!??

My fav LFS in the area always has 2-4 of them. Just the small ones about 1-2 inches though.
