Xenia is splitting ... how can I do a 'natural' move?

I'm going to butcher the spelling of a couple of these, but I think you'll be able to look them up. All Kent products. 1) Iodine, added with my weekly water changes 2) Calcium, also added with my weekly water changes 3) Strontium & Molybdenum. added with my weekly water changes 4) A pH buffer...

Buying my new tank today. 75 or 90, opinions please.

I know, I know, the bigger the better. It's a $50 difference between the two reef ready varieties ($167/75, $215/90). I'll be putting in a 5 inch DSB, so that will leave me with 13 inches in the 75 or 17 inches with the 90. I want clams, so if I get the 90, I will probably have to get 400...

    Hermit crabs vs. the snails

If there is no algea for the snails to eat, you can give them dried seaweed. But my real suggestion is to get rid of the damned crabs. I have two scarlet crabs and I'll keep them at that level. Get nassariaus snails to do the same job on the sand bed. Then just have a few scarlet hermit...

BlueLine MH. Question to those who have them.

Do I need to supplement the light at all since it already has that great blue feel to it? I'd like to get get 2x250 watt BlueLine ballasts and get their 10K bulbs to put in, and then call it good. Actually at the beginning I'd go with only one on one side (power compact on the other) then...

Xenia is splitting ... how can I do a 'natural' move?

Well, my Xenia has almost tripled in size and has been splitting in the last couple of days. The section that is splitting is 'stepping off' the frag rock the main colony came on. I'd like it to attach to another frag and not my piece of LR the frag is on. I also don't want to cut and glue...

    Star for reef

My yellow/black brittle is fine in my 10 gallon. He may prefer a bigger tank, so I'm getting a 75 :). My wife calls him the octopus. She saw him and the next thing I knew she was handing me money for it. In a 5 gallon I would definitaly get a small one though.

    what could it be?

Almost looks like a nudibranch from that angle. If that's the foot on the glass then I believe it is. Check out: http://www.seaslugforum.net/ http://www.divegallery.com/ Maybe I'm blind though.

Live Rock in a bucket for how long? Big sale at LFS.

I actually got a fantastic piece from them. 18 lb with polyps, coraline all over, and many little hitchikers. But I think they will have lots more LR there since they are advertising it at 3.99/lbs.

"i am afraid to check it at night and see huge arms hanging out of the tank trying to pick up my dog " If you are going to say something this funny, please put in some spoiler information. Some of us get dirty looks when we start laughing in the office *wink*.

Deep Sand Bed and Aragonite (Southdown)

It can clump, but if you have a healthy sand bed (with all the critters that come in one) than the sand shouldn't be able to clump because of all the movement ... right?

Live Rock in a bucket for how long? Big sale at LFS.

I'm getting to be friends with, is it Jim?, and he said the best way to do it is to come in on Friday and figure out what you want. Because when they call your number Saturday, you have to know exactly what you want or they have to pass you over. They are expected more than 700 people in an 8...

Used: 3 175w MH and 2 VHO setup ... how much would you pay?

On my lunch break today I pass this little pet store and decide I'd run in there real quick to look at their price for a 29 gallon tank (possibly use it to hold some LR for me). Talk to the owner a bit and come to find out he used to have saltwater and ... He's got a 6 foot hood that used to...

    Is this enough fish....

I'd keep the temp anywhere between 78-82. As for bristle worms, most think of them as good things (myself included). Do a search on the forums here and you'll be able to see all the different opinions.

Live Rock in a bucket for how long? Big sale at LFS.

Upkeep for my tank is such: One 1-2 gallon water change every week. One or two other times a week I top off with Freshwater then 'skim' a little (about 4-10 ounces) of the surface water and replace with some of the saltwater I had not used that week. Right now it probably equates to 30-60...

Live Rock in a bucket for how long? Big sale at LFS.

Slothy, Yeah, I got the special flyer in the mail and there are going to be some extreme deals. I talked with the guy who runs their saltwater department and last year he handled about 700 customers that day. Venders from Lansing come in and everything. I really wish I had my 75 all hooked up...
