    OT: We caught Saddam!!!

Wrassecal, Your holocaust class sounds interesting. It seems hard to deny such an event w/ all the footage out there. Its also sad when you look at the timeline of events (type "when did America learn of the holocaust?" into ask jeeves) to know that reports and news articles making claims of...

    OT: We caught Saddam!!!

JLEM, I WATCH THE NEWS! I sometimes obsessively research middle eastern history, and both pro and anti-war sites. This piece is from yahoo news: " In nine months, not a single item has been found in Iraq from a long and classified intelligence list of weapons of mass destruction which guided the...

    OT: We caught Saddam!!!

I know Saddam was no saint and the world will not miss him, and the troops serving there are to be highly commended, but I can't understand the urgency and the effort that was exerted to capture him before Bin Laden. All this effort was based on a belief that he was a threat (to us) without any...

any one else see this at there local deathco opps *****

Ok. Are we saying they sell actual sea water or is it just premixed salt water? I doubt very seriously that they would go to the trouble of having real seawater shipped in when their fish look so awful and the tanks they are in are so small. Buying premixed or even real saltwater isn't buying...

    Opinions on LFS advise

The Kent Liquid Calcium reactor is awesome for coralline growth also. My LFS recommended it as a replacement to the Kalk drip and I have seen great results. I still add iodine once every two weeks as well.

Can a ritteri anemone handle another anemone?

As a general rule I have heard not to mix clowns, but as the last guy said I've known people that had no problems w/ different species. Be very careful w/ mixing anemone species though. I had a bubble tip that moved all the way across my 60 gal. just to fight a different anemone I bought. This...

    HELP!! Anenome moved !!

I've read that many times before a bubble tip begins to split and clone itself it will retreat to a dark space. I've had one for almost 2-1/2 years and he has moved occasionally but will usually emerge somewhere back at the top near the light. If it has been feeding well and water quality is ok...

    anenome switch

I'd try a bubble tip. Healthy ones will gladly accept chunks of shrimp and other foods and require less light than most of the others for their nourishment. I've had mine for nearly 2 1/2 years under a 125w pc in a 60 gallon tank. You said you had an ocellaris? You might have a hard time getting...

    super glue

I've heard of people doing it but I couldn't verify it would be safe. I tried some "reef safe" glue I bought online and it didn't bond well at all and my xenia was damaged after using it.

    predator star????

I really doubt its your bristle star doing this. I have always observed mine and friends stars as very timid. Mine has roughly 6" long arms and he scurries away from a little sally light foot. Like the other guy said bristles are scavengers , not hunters. Did you actually find the stars dead or...

    What's picking on my firefish?

I've got a group of 3 firefish. 2 of them the largest and smallest school together. The medium size one recently started staying to himself, and often emerges with torn fins. Not fin rot, but single tears and sometimes his top high fin is half gone. After a week or so he will heal back and look...

    Coexitsting aneomes?

I've read stark white is bad, but it seems that your sebae does have a yellow tint to it. I don't know that I would say its unhealthy from a photo that might make it look a bit white though. Anyhow I have a bta thats been w/ me for a couple years and few months ago bought a long tip anemone...

the guy at my LFS told me this!!

Maybe he was thinking that since less oxygen is present in higher altitudes that anaerobic bacteria build up under deep sand beds might become excessive and produce toxic sulfur gases. Or then again maybe he is just full of it ?

    Anemone not cooperating, why?

Michelle: I've got a bta that I have had for almost 2 years now, and I have lost 2 that I got after the one I still have. My healthy bta ONLY shrinks up the day after it is fed and never folds its tentacles totally in. It has survived through less than perfect conditions when other corals...

    killer in the tank?

I've got 3 firefish and I noticed one had a huge split in its tail a few days ago. Its not fin rot but looks like it was attacked. Well today one of my other fires is entirely missing the long top fin that they are always raising. I suspect the culprit might be a little rock crab I noticed a...
