    Bioballs

Thanks for the replies! Pmauro - I have heard of using the styrofoam peanuts, I'm glad that they are working for you! I was wondering......my H.O.T canister is currently empty; I'm using it for circulation only because my LR/LS is providing adequate filtration. However, I'm one for the "more...

    Live sand question

p.s. as long as the 180 is empty, just get it in. Use a 2-wheeled dolly, or whatever, as long as you don't damage the structure on the way in....

    adding liverock?

How long have you had your FO? How big is your tank and how much LR are you adding? The recommended amount of LR (1-2# per gal) and you need to know whether it is cured or uncured.....if it's uncured, or you bought it mail-order, then you'll want to cure it before you add it to your main tank...

Where to place the PWR HDS??

I agree! ...just make sure (as I have been recently informed) not the create the whirlpool effect. You may want to consider more powerheads to avoid dead spots....(still a newbie) ;)

Are your powerheads fully submerged? Mine occasionally shot tiny bubbles when I first set them up - I was told not to use the aeration tube. Stilll a newbie..........

1/2 LS , 1/2 dry argonite. My hope was that the LS/LR would seed the argonite. Do you think this will be ok since the sand grain is very fine, or shoud I add more sand (slowly :) )? Thanks in advance!

    Dsb

Please bear with my dumb newbie questions....;) My sand bed is 4" when it's flat, however, because of the water current there are places where it's less than 4" and other places (obviously) where it's more than 4". Will the "less than 4inch" places cause any problems?

How have you placed your powerheads? I have an empty Magnum filter agitating the surface, and three other PH's placed at varying depths - trying not to create a whirlpool effect...170gph, 295gph and a 550 PH (not sure of GPH).

    LR just arrived!

Thanks Buzz! Actually, my fish are in a quarantine tank. Last week I accidently started a mini-cycle so I decided to take the opportunity to boost my LR up to the recommended amount and let it cycle through. I also took the media out of my canister and plan to use it for circulation only - my...
