    What The Hell Is This?

I have had those! I bought some LR from someone's existing tank, and it was FULL of bristleworms and at least 3 of those. They're TINY, and they wiggle frantically from place to place like they're hopped up on crack and then they wiggle to the next spot! I searched and found nothing. Hopefully...

    out of curiosity

Walking along the beach near JAX at sunrise, I came across a tiny porc puffer, bloated up and almost out of the surf... I got a bucket of water and he went back down and I released him in a calm area... So, you definitely have porcupine puffers there.

    Lace rock and live rock

For sand, you can go to Home Depot and buy "Pulverized Limestone" by PAVESTONE for about $5 per 50 lb bag. It passes the vinegar fizz test and will save you a ton of money. Good luck

Can Anyone I.d What This Is In My Tank?(pics Here)

Philgmiami- Can't tell for sure, but it looks like a Peacock mantis from the red antennal scales. If you read up on them (Grimreefers dot com has a great Mantis forum) and decide he needs a new home (so he doesn't kill everything else in your tank!), I'm looking for a colorful one! Willing to...

What do you name your fish?

When I got my first tank years ago, I tried to be witty. I had a Zebra eel named Murray (Murray/Moray eel, get it? Heh), a Chocolate Chip starfish named Hershey, and a Flaming Scallop named Liberace. All crabs still bear the moniker TINA, after a friend I once had who did untoward things with my...

    Phyllodocid worms (Friend or Foe)

I know this is an old thread, but since I finally identified MY worm as being a Phyllodocid (thank you Matt from DFWMAS!), I thought other ppl might find the information useful. Although I have not seen it with my own eyes, I *know* this guy is responsible for my once thriving stomatella (cap...

I promise you will find this very interesting

They're very interesting animals, and the coloration of the ones in the LFSs around here has been a beautiful brilliant green... but it kinda annoys me that even websites group them in with true eels. And yeah, I'm betting he could crush a bone with those jaws! Seemed friendly, but mistakes...

    Tess eel questions

LOL! No, no, no. I had a ZEBRA, not a SFE, for a few years... I've only had the kidako a few weeks... And I doubt I'll ever have the time, space, or finances to be an expert. I'd settle for finding a good-looking horned moray I like for now! :-) "Gosh, man." And... I'm a girl...

    Tess eel questions

Stalking?! Honest, I'm just a disciple! Trying to learn from all of you who have more eel experience than I do! I had a zebra for 3 years, and my G. kidako is still alive, but that hardly means I know anything! Actually, it's kind of annoying! I find a species to research, and when I google...

    Tess eel questions

Yes, DME, you're right. That's why I used the scientific name of M. melanotis , and not just a common one (honeycomb), and made sure to say that they are very different. In reading many posts by you, it seems to me that you are correct and that the common names too often get changed and...

    Tess eel questions

I am really hoping it works out alright for you, Unleashed! It's a gorgeous animal, and if it weren't for the tank size needed to house it long term, I would get one. They are by far my favorite looking eel (that costs under $1000. ). So good luck! My question is this: in my online...
