    I don't think the lights have much to do with slime algae. It is sometimes caused by rapid fluctuations in temp. I used a product called antired and it was gone overnight.

    Also the blue head wrasse is a pig. It will eat everything in sight. I have had it rip food out of other fishes mouth and take food from anenomes.

    I agree with some of the above. I have heard of them breaking tanks. Not to mention almost wiping them out. Not a smart idea putting it in!!!!

    how long till coraline algae

    Mine took a few months to really be noticeable but a friend of mines started to grow almost immediatly. We use the same products, and our levels are right on. I'd imagine it just is luck.

    It is a hard coral which usually means it needs a lot of light. I would put it at the top of the tank.

    I got rid of my moniter. I was worrying too much and checking all the time. Now I don't do any tests unless something has gone wrong. It is less stress on me!!

    Buy the 20k bulb then you won't have to put an actinic bulb on! The 20 will cover the light spectrum you want!!

    In my opinion I would replace your bulbs. The good spectrum on them lasts about 6 months. Then the bad spectrum kicks in and promotes green growth. That will stop the problem. Getting rid of the hair algae I would add 2 bluelegged hermit crabs for every gallon of water. They will clean the hair...

    I have had mine down as long as a week without much problems. The water went a little yellow though.

    Diamond back goby or slider goby will take care of the sand. They are sand sifters.
