Algae is produced if you have excess phosphates(green) and silica (brown). Just get a algae magnet. I wouldn't scrape it off b/c then the algae would die and thus produce more phosphates and silica making you problem even worse. HTH p.s. there are many other methods of getting rid of it. You...

If you think the rock wouldnt have any die off when you transfer it then i would use it.

I use Instant Ocean Salt. I used playground sand but i sterilyzed it and washed it. Some sand won't work.

I suggest live rock. It helps in the long run. Yep those types of fish would fit in a 30 gallon. Make sure you check their adult sizes first. Then compatibility.
