Ok, so I went to the LFS last week on one of my weekly water runs and I came home with an acro that I couldn't pass up. SO here it is. It started to turn brown, but now it is regaining its bright purple color with yellow pollyps.

My big thing is how the corals appear. I like the way that acros look with the extra blue light. The zooanthellae just seem to light up and it seems to give better detail to the corals polyp expansion. What do you think Plum? Do you think the corals themselves look better under the 20K or 10K?

How about any type up cleaning supplies or aerosals? Anyone decide to windex the glass on the tank? The majority of that stuff is ammonia based and would do a number on you tank. That seems like a big jump just to happen overnight even if something died.

BigMac, where in heck did you find that dosing pump? I have been looking for something like that for a while. I search E-bay all the time. I found the float switches, but I agree with you. I would wrather use a dosing pump then a PH.

I have been thinking of changing up my lighting on my 55gal. Right now it has 4 110w VHOs and a 175W 12000K Sunburst MH. I want to take off 2 of the VHOs leaving 2 110W actinics and adding another Metal Halide. My question is should I upgrade the 175w ballast to a 250W and put 2 250Ws over it...

I was surpirised to see this post dug up. SInce this post I have been using vinegar in my Kalk with no effect, actually the contrairy. The coraline and growth of my SPS corals aring taking off. Yes, the vinegar does allow you to dissolve more CaOH in the water.

How long has the tank been set up? Have you been testing for Calcium and Alk? If so, what are the readings? Acros usually brown usually do to lighting issues. Other things such as tissue recession can be do to stress or unsuitable water conditions.
