    Monitpora capricornis growth

I used superglue gel. A lot of people like to glue one of the side to the piece of rock, but from all the ones I have seen I liked the growth from the ones that were glued flat. As you can see it is growing from all of the sides and the front is starting to kind of "scoop" up. I can't wait...

    Fox Coral

I think this is an excellent idea. I think a hammer or frogspawn would be great for Sunday. I would definately love to see more stuff about SPS corals. It seems that not as many people keep them....maybe due to their requirments, but they are what I really love.

list of coral i am going to order

Sounds like a big list to start out with. What type of lighting do you have and how long has your tank been set up?

    Wave makers/simulators

I have another question if you don't mind me jumping in on this. Are wavemakers really necessary?? The guy at the LFS told me that wavemakers and dimmers are a big waste of money. I think otherwise becasue I figure the closer to nature we make our tanks the more our corals will prosper. On...

Metal Halide? Glass between lights and water?

I like going topless ;) I don't use a glass top and my hallide is about 5-6" above the water. Never had a prob, just some salt buildup on the bulb.

    Culturing Phytoplankton and Rotifers

Ok, well I went to the LFS today and they have set up culture stations for phyto and rotifers. The have a good strain of both and are starting to churn out the stuff like crazy. My buddy there is selling the stuff for $8 for a little jar of phyto, beats DTs but still. So I told him I wanted...

    Felt like posting some pics

I hate the putty, but it is the only way I can get them from moving. THe good thing is that the coraline is starting to cover it up.

    Felt like posting some pics

I got bored and decided to snap some shots of the tanks. A have got a lot of new acro frags that i wanted to share. At my last count I have 12 different species of acro, 3 species of montipora; 2 digitata and a capricornis, and a poscilapora. I love the SPS. I want to upgrade the lights too.

    top off

Yeah, looked at the liter meter and um.....its $250. I think I can live with adding water on my own :) Tsunami makes a unit for around $50. They have one that can turn pumps on when the water level drops to low and one that can turn a pump off when the water level drops to low. I don't have...

    What the heck is this?

If it is what I am thinking it is, it is the same stuff I have growing in my tank. I think it is some type of sponge or something. Very harmless and grows relatively fast.

I Think It's Time For Clarification For All Who Read This Reef Forum **

In my opinion the day you place a coral in your tank it is then deamed a reef tank. That is the main difference. Other then that the differences would be the lighting and the things you plan on keeping. I wish I could elaborate more, but my buddy is standing over my shoulder with a bottle of...

    Cleaning Seaclone Protein Skimmer

I have a seaclone 150 that is in my refugium. Needless to say fromt he lighting it has algae and coraline grow on the inside if the tube. It is not working properly and I think this is the reason. Is there a way to open the main cylender and clean the inside? Has anyone done this?? What...

I can't believe he told me to do this.

You guys are entitled to your opinions, but I do think you are overreacting a little bit. You are not harming the fish. It is like trimming yours, or you cat/dogs/birds nails. You are not ripping out there barb, merely trimming it. Whether or not the fish will have a self esteem issue as a...
