wow you guys go hard core........ i just mix tapwater and salt extreamly well till there is no salt left in the botom of the bucket. i put in some declorinators and stuff like that in and let it sit for like an hour then i do the same thing (shake the hell out of it) then I dump in to the tank...

I have read about all the stuff that i need to start a tank, but money is a problem for me..... I wont soft corals and shrooms and stuff like that. my personal tank is a 40gal. I have a proteen skimmer and a large hang on filter, I have herd that bio-weels are good. Im in the prosess of bilding...

i got a wird shy crab that lives in my live rock in my 90 gal and it looks like a dunganous crab of the north, but it is fuzzy and very small about 1/2" across (i found a sheded shell) i see him when i feed my tank. Oh he came in with the live rock i bought so i have no idea to what he is. ttyal FH

dose evaperation count as a waterchange?????? im looseing about 5 gal a week in my new 40 gal so that is a good change if i top it up every week.... ttyal Riley

Thanks for the info :D i think that is what im going to do. as live rock is so expensive up hear from 8 for crap to 15$ a Lb for good rock. so ya i think that i will make a hole bunch of that rock and just let it sit for a few months in the water like it says then buy some soso live rock maby 20...

i did something like this when i was about 3 but it was with a freshwater tank so it was alot easer to replace....... sorry about the loss... ttyal FH

This isn’t your typical live rock topic :D i know about all the things about it, but what i was wondering was is it possible to MAKE your own live rock???? like say buy 10 or 15 LBs of the good live stuff and mix boiled lava rock with it or another porous rock and let it sit for a few months in...
