    shroom invasion

I read on here about using "kalk paste" to stop them. I assume you cut the shroom off and rub the paste over the remains(it's hard to get it all off of a rock).

Should have listened to my girlfriend, am I screwed now?

If it is playsand(dead), you can sort of rinse it first. Mine had a lot of "dust" in it and rinsing it a few times helped minimize the initial "sand storm." We use a 1 gallon bucket and filled it 1/2 full of sand. THen ran water in it and kind of stirred it around - dumping the milky looking...

    Attaching Frags

Actually, I used a plastic "scrubber" pad like you use on dishes. It is made of plastic, ribbon like "netting". It just sort of unravels and you have netting approximately4-5" wide. Works OK. Netting with ROUND woven netting would be better (like fishnet). I'll try to post a pic later. I...

    adding sand to new fuge

Ok I have around 3-4" of sand in my display. I know you are not supposed to upset a DSB. How much sand can you remove to transfer to the fuge without causing a spike from the "funk" in the sand?

    A couple pics, im bored!

There may be a setting on the cam to allow for the different lighting in your tank. It probably defaults to some "auto iris" or something. I agree with Dogstar-better than a lot.

    need legal advice

Take pictures of everything for physical evidence. Get a lawyer. If you are like most of us, your money is in your home. Don't let it get destroyed! A lawyer MAY tell you to get it fixed by ANOTHER outfit and charge it to the first guy. That would be fitting. Good luck to you.

    adding sand to new fuge

I'm at the point of adding sand to mine. I don't think sand of either persuasion CAN cause a spike; especially clean-dead sand. I'm going to put dead sand in first, then "seed" it with some small rocks and live sand from my display.

We'll put you on the list. It is growing, but we should still have enough to go around. I will try setup trades in order of appearance on this thread. You know what i mean. . . . :notsure: Definitely need more thermoses. :joy:

On a positive note: If you do go with ro/di water, your filters will last a long time on that water.

    loud overflow

You may want to add some dursostandpipes (dot com). These are DIY-able. I put 2 in a homemade overflow box for my 75. The idea is to make a "tee" and cap it, leaving a "vent" hole to let water go down without the loud flushing sound or water fall. Here is a pic of what they look like.

New to the hobby, and this site.

Welcome Rev! As a rule, rain water is more acidic but "soft". By contrast, water from the ground is more "hard" from minerals and some heavy metals(iron for one) leaching into it. RO-DI water is supposed to be 99% pure. Have you had your well water tested for phosphates, heavy metals and...
