    Advise Please - Protein Skimmer

I feed my crab, Little Toot something meaty every night, and she likes to chew up food pellets too and hide it in rocks to eat for another day. The one skimmer I have pulls some icky stuff. It's a frustrating piece of equipment though.Every day requires an adjustment of some sort. I finally...

    WARNING!! sally lightfoot crabs....

I know, this thread is six years old, but that's okay. I love my SLF. She is adorable. I'm fretting over her right now. She molted and isn't feeling good.

    Advise Please - Protein Skimmer

Greetings, I bought a Lee's protein skimmer. It's driving me crazy. I have to fiddle with it constantly to get it to work right. I was being cheap when I bought it. I need a good one that will leave a small foot print. Please, what do you advise? This time I won't skimp. Thanks.

Sump: Will this work for a 20 gallon aquarium?

Opae vary in size from 1/8 to 3/8 of an inch. So she may just have to stay in that fish bowl until the other tank is finished cycling. I have only one male and four female Opaes due to phosphate which killed the others. I'm checking all water parameters now. I'm learning so much.

Sump: Will this work for a 20 gallon aquarium?

What a good idea! Thank you. I'm usually in there with a baster sucking up the blown away food and that is very time consuming. That will give me some time with LT and make her a bit happier and me too. I miss interacting with my crab! Would a bumblebee goby eat my opae shrimp? Of course...

Sump: Will this work for a 20 gallon aquarium?

I'm so excited I've been dancing. Little Toot does not like that ten gallon and neither do I. Due to the different strong currents from the protein skimmer and the HOB filter, we can't interact with one another like before. We both get frustrated when the current yanks the food I try to give...

Sump: Will this work for a 20 gallon aquarium?

Yes I did. Just as you advised. I'm so excited. :) I added three small live rock last week hoping it would make the cycle faster. I' m still ghost feeding too. I have chaeto on the way also.

Sump: Will this work for a 20 gallon aquarium?

Thank you. I will follow your advice when the time comes. I hope it is soon. The nitrates in the cycling tank are 20, nitrites 3, ammonia 0, and phosphates 0.25

Sump: Will this work for a 20 gallon aquarium?

I'm still waiting for my sump to arrive. Once that sump is setup, will everything have to cycle again since I will be adding more water?

I just set up a new tank and not having much luck.

I'm so grateful to this forum. This forum's advice has helped me keep my livestock alive while my other tank is cycling.I'll be so glad when I can move them into their 20 gallon. Changing water constantly is exhausting, but so worth it.

I just set up a new tank and not having much luck.

I've been going through my own nightmare thanks to the LFS. I knew nothing. They ultimately do not care. All they want to do is make a sale.

    Bumble Bee Goby

The seller informed me she is brackish and would be a wonderful addition to my Opae shrimp tank. My Opae like to be at 1.0014. I tested the goby's water and it is 1.001. ~groan~ She is in a goldfish bowl at the moment.
