Thanks for all teh comments and compliments-- and to answer the questions.... the seahorse is a "spotted seahorse" scientific name "hippocampus kuda". They are kinda of rare in the wild, due to people taking them for aquariums, and also as the asian countries cath them for their 'medicinal'...

Mods Help Can't Open Pages in New Window

they changed the programing of the site, so you cannot open in new windows anymore. this is so you ahve to have the "product list" on the left-hand side.... it's a pain, I know-- i used to have at least 4 windows open at once, and liked the whole screen without the 'ads'. maybe if enough people...

What The Hell Is This?! (pic)

HNF2K- YOu can get these rfom several online suppliers-- do a search on google for 'walking batfish' I cant tell you directly- the post will get deleted or edited. As for your tank size- should be ok, as long as you have large areas with open sand. Just keep in mind, these are reef safe 'with...

What The Hell Is This?! (pic)

You cant buy these, sorry. You might be able to go on a dive trip to the Galapagos and sneak one ouot.. but not a good idea. you CAN however, get Walking batfish-- very similar, dont have lipstick though. They are 'reef safe with cuation' they do tend to eat small fish. you need a tank with a...

    yellow tang..big problem

yeah, a yellow tang would be much happier in a tank at least 75 gallons. i had a few that i tried to keep in my 55, and they got stressed and died-- they need a lot of space to swim around in, even the small ones.

    Sexy Shrimp

you can safely put sexy shrimp in your reef. they will get along with most fish and shrimp, and as they are really really fast, they are able to keep away from most predators. my sally lightfoot was trying to eat mine over and over, but as soon as the crab touched them, they shot like lightning...

    Upgrading lights please add 2cents

I went from 2 110 watt VHOs and 2 40 watt NOs to a total of 4 x 110 watt vhos. this was after the tank was running for a year. I only decreased my lighting about 2 hrs at first, then after 3 weeks was able to increase it to running from 1:30pm - 11pm. as far as algae, i did have a small...

    Emerald crab question

Check my signature for my stock list. I have several emerald crabs, and they are fine. I have not seen them eat much algae :) but they are fun to have in the tank. I would warn you though, make sure you get green ones. I had a red emerald (they are a little less common) and it was fine...

What The Hell Is This?! (pic)

Looks like some type of walking batfish. The front fins are basically, like you said, modified fins for walking. Not sure what species- maybe a Redlip Walking Batfish? Or perhaps a Street Walking Batfish? :D

Lawnmower Blenny chowing on Sand Sifting Star!!!

Lawnmower blenny's do have a tendancy to start nipping at other tank mates. Especially if they are overcrowded. How large is your tank? You should only have one lawnmower per 40 gallons. It may also be just that sometimes lawnmower blenny's do that. we had one that was fine, but suddenly...

    ideal lighting?

If its a 55 long, i would go with the icecap ballast. You can get teh ballast around $200 with shipping, and end caps are aronud $10 a pair (need 1 pair per bulb) and bulbs average around $30 for VHO. You can always start with 2 bulbs, then move up to 4 later on. That is what we did to save money.
