I have the same tank with 2x250's how old is the light setup? It shouldn't hurt anything unless you have certain corals to high and your lights are not acclimated.

My family all lives in Sonora. So far no problems but I guess they are getting alot of smoke. I have two nephews up there that are firefighters and they have been non stop since the fires began.

Mine is a year old in my tank and doesn't bother anything. If well fed and algae sheets once in awhile the are great.

I am ex Air Force and my youngest son is in the Navy, they put him through college and now he is an officer and helicopter pilot. It was a blessing and my son is in his eigth year now and loves it.

When I had my problem I used algaefix with no results. What finally got rid of mine was more flow and reduced lighting. Water changes are the most important and hit problem areas with a toothbrush until it is gone.
