    Need a few IDs please

#1 Cyphastrea, #2 not sure, looks like it could be a branching Porites, #3 some type of deepwater Acro., #4 yes on the Digitata, and #5 looks to be orange Pavona maldivensis. Good luck with them all. Matt

Moon Coral is Sick: PLEASE HELP!!!

I had this happen to the one I had too, I didn't have proper tool to frag it off at the time, and I should have but didn't dip the coral either. Eventually all the tissue started to fluff off, sometimes in big mats(multiple corallite sections). I would maybe frag off the section like mentioned...

Alex, glad you figured out how to get it, I was going to say just use a magnet for that. See you this weekend. Matt

    Id Plz...

I think it looks like something else now. Doesn't look too bushy, A. tenius(at least all I've seen and have) are real bushy with lots of PE, IDK. Have to search some more and see if I can(or someone else) find a better candidate. Looks very nice whatever it turns out to be, may never truly...

    Id Plz...

Looks like it could be A. tenius, but that is just a guess and by comparing some of mine. Visual ID is speculation at best. Nice frag. Matt

How do you learn your SPS quickly?

You can try this site: http://en.microcosmaquariumexplorer....ki/Acroporidae The book by Eric Borneman "Aquarium Corals: Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History" is a good book for beginners and has lots of nice pics to look at. What for fish business are you in now? Matt

Monti Caps next to each other

agree with nycbob, they should be fine but one is usually slightly more dominant and will possibly outgrow the other in some areas, just frag the offender if it gets to be too much for your liking, they are pretty hardy and recover pretty fast usually. Good luck Matt

I guess like markeo99 says, straight vinegar then yank harder with the pliers, IDK. I never met an impeller I couldn't get out one way or another. Matt

My 11 year old son and his friend got sprayed by a skunk

I truly feel sorry for you. Break out the tomato soup(I hope you have a bunch), time for a soup bath. That is the only "old wives tale" I know of to get the smell off. Good luck Matt

    "The Second American Revolution"

No argument from me. I would have to agree with that, not sure about his numbers, but it is time for a change in how things are done in this country. And, why can't we all just be Americans, I don't agree with all that hypenated crap, you are only adding to the problem of separation. Call it...

    AcroAddict's 45g mixed reef

They are kind of small to tell growth patterns yet, but the third pic from the bottom with the two small one, could possibly be something like Miami Orchid Staghorn(these normally come from places like ORA or The Coral Farm), the other one looks like it could possibly be A. secale, IDK for sure...

Can any coral withstand an anenome?

I know they will wipe out everything, I was just saying that if anything is going to make it, it would probably be a Mushroom. Have a good weekend guys. Matt

    AcroAddict's 45g mixed reef

Thank you very much, I try and my tank is my major passion. It really means a lot to me when people do actually comment on it(whether good or bad). Another important parameter is Magnesium(very important) this needs to be between 1300-1500ppm in order to keep proper balance of Ca and...

    AcroAddict's 45g mixed reef

I wouldn't necessarily get a new PH, but look into the maxi-jet mod kits, it will change them from shooting(blasting) jets of water to a low velocity/high volume widely dispersed flow, which is what you want, not directly blasting your corals with a jet of water. Mixed turbulent flow, lots of...
