So here are some photos I just took of my 5.5 gallon, some better than others, but there is a FTS :) I'm going to post the one pic in the ID forum because I dont honestly know what kind of fish I have. Enjoy :) http://s762.photobucket.com/albums/x...Gallon%20reef/

    20H nano questions

Okay, If I mod an aquaclear for a refugium, should I have some kind of filter for mechanical (I know I can toss a carbon bag in the fuge if need be). And if I have a fair amount of live rock and an aquaclear fuge, do you think I'd be able to sustain a mandarin? My LFS just got the cutest on...

    20H nano questions

With the aquaclears do you mean for a fuge mod, or for filtration? The 110 flows 500 gph, K2 is 600 gph, thats 1100 wow :) What about coralife's new circulation pumps they look like the K's and 750 gph is only like $25 "that place" i shop sometimes.

    20H nano questions

So I'm starting my 20H nano. The filter is a whisper 20 I think, I think I'm also going to get a Rio Nano skimmer (not the best skimmer, but better than nothing) or perhaps a Prism if I can find one on auction. So in the vein, how many more gph should I look at flow wise? I was thinking about...

    Help with 5 gallon lighting

Well the tank will be "open top" and the light is going as a pendant as far as I've planned so far... I'll probably start with the 70 being i've got it now and get a 150w ballast/bulb later down the road when I'm ready to have SPS not 2" from the surface :) Would 70w do the SPS that close...

    Help with 5 gallon lighting

Well, sometimes things just happen... I ran into a steal of a deal on a pretty stand that will hold a 20H, so looks like im either doing a 20H or a 10gal, probably the 20H. I am in the process of waiting for a bulb to come in so I can test my 70W diy MH fixture but I'm not too worried, I have a...

    DIY MH Pendant questions

Okay so there was a thread about building a MH pendant out of a security light and ballast, and that is my plan and I've got some DIY experience but need some help ballast wise.... The ballast I'm looking at is for a 70W mh which should be plenty for a 10 gallon AGA. I may build a canopy later...

    Help with 5 gallon lighting

Okay, It's been some time since I've posted here, had some trials and tribulations with my 56 gallon that is now freshwater... Anyway I've maintained my 5 gallon nano through all of this and I think its high time to consider a lighting upgrade. Tank is a standard AGA "5 gallon" (5.5 I think...

Best tank size for Engineer Goby?

Okay well I took down my 56, I'm just not ready to be lugging 20 gallons a week from walmart (I dont have money for an RO) and I dont have money for a bunch of other stuff that would make life easier to deal with... that said I put my 5 gallon QT back into "full duty" and the yellow tail blue...

    Stinky tank

It smelled enough before the sand change to warrant a good look at the water parameters, which as above were in good shape, no ammonia no trite, and only 5 trate. The sand was disgusting, i seriously almost puked pulling it out. The sand was quikrete, nice tan "beach" color, but below the first...

    Stinky tank

My tank smells NASTY. I just changed the sand out and the sand was nasty. I put my fish into my QT and they seem okay, as do my mushroom, GSP and we'll see on the Zoos. I'm actually thinking of just leaving the 5 gallon up for a few months and then getting a 29 or something and staying nano...

Humidity in the house -- any solutions?

The builder here did a 1 year walkthough/inspection and fixed a few things. I found something since then and they dont even want to hear it... they referred me to my "structural warranty" which basically is through a separate company and they come out and inspect and its almost like doing a...

Stainless Steel in a reef tank

As I said before, my return goes 2" below the water, I have 5 holes all about 1/8", looking closer, 2 of them are at my "ideal" cut off (just at where the overflow box would stop flowing), 2 of them are another 1/2" below that (and the sump could hold the water if it came down to it), and then...

    Changing sand questions

Only thing that sucks is 100% water change means 3 trips to walmart :(

    Changing sand questions

So I pulled the rock, pulled the fish, pulled the CUC that i could find and started the process of removing the sand (quikrete) from my system so I can put in the nice pretty white limestone sand I got. I thought my skimmate smelled nasty, buy was I in for a treat when I got to the black sand on...

    Engineer Goby GONE

Welp I'm actually taking out my quikrete sand today or tomorrow and putting in pulverized limestone (basically argonite) so ill be putting the rock in first (on the glass). I actually have about 8 pounds of dry rock to add as well but i wanted to wait until the sand was done :)

    Engineer Goby GONE

False alarm, juvi goby can in fact fit down 3/4" PVC, he's relaxing in the sump...guess i'll have to get him later on today

    Engineer Goby GONE

The lowest of the rocks in the tank are on the sand, then i put other rocks on top of those... the rock structure does not seem to be disturbed and there are no signs of digging at all.

    Engineer Goby GONE

So I've not been paying enough attention to my baby engineer (like 2-3 inch). Tank is 56 gal others in there are 3 damsels (yellow tail blues, im doing a mostly damsel tank...no worries). Anyway. He used to hang out by a pile of rubble rock in the back center of the tank behind the main rocks...
