Okay, If I mod an aquaclear for a refugium, should I have some kind of filter for mechanical (I know I can toss a carbon bag in the fuge if need be). And if I have a fair amount of live rock and an aquaclear fuge, do you think I'd be able to sustain a mandarin? My LFS just got the cutest on...

With the aquaclears do you mean for a fuge mod, or for filtration? The 110 flows 500 gph, K2 is 600 gph, thats 1100 wow :) What about coralife's new circulation pumps they look like the K's and 750 gph is only like $25 "that place" i shop sometimes.

So I pulled the rock, pulled the fish, pulled the CUC that i could find and started the process of removing the sand (quikrete) from my system so I can put in the nice pretty white limestone sand I got. I thought my skimmate smelled nasty, buy was I in for a treat when I got to the black sand on...

Welp I'm actually taking out my quikrete sand today or tomorrow and putting in pulverized limestone (basically argonite) so ill be putting the rock in first (on the glass). I actually have about 8 pounds of dry rock to add as well but i wanted to wait until the sand was done :)

The lowest of the rocks in the tank are on the sand, then i put other rocks on top of those... the rock structure does not seem to be disturbed and there are no signs of digging at all.

So I've not been paying enough attention to my baby engineer (like 2-3 inch). Tank is 56 gal others in there are 3 damsels (yellow tail blues, im doing a mostly damsel tank...no worries). Anyway. He used to hang out by a pile of rubble rock in the back center of the tank behind the main rocks...
