    Maroon Coral-type creature?

I also have pulsing zenia, cinnamon polyps (although it is not on these, just the dragon's eye polyps), a gorgonian, orange and green ricordea. Does look flat . . . what is flat worm and please don't tell me the outbreak happened by overfeeding - my biggest downfall.

    Maroon Coral-type creature?

Can anyone identify this? It started on the rock, a little at a time, but has now spread rapidly to the sand, snail shells, and is smothering the polyps. I have a 40gal saltwater tank, about 4 years old. I thought it was a coral, except the individual "things" are similar in size and look...

    Id Please

Stinks - since I bought them for $35 from the LFS . . . Thanks for the ID though - no clicking noises which is why when the chromis went AWOL I sort of suspected these guys . . . but without knowing exactly what they were, didn't want to do them in unnecessarily.

    Replacing BioWheel

thanks for the information . . . I don't have anything real "expensive" in the tank, but me and my family are so attached to what's in there . . . didn't want to take a chance. Now that you mention it, the water in the tank is not clear, even after changing the carbon filter. Im going to...

    Replacing BioWheel

I have a 40gal stretch hex with live rock, a few corals and fish. I have an Emperor filter that hangs form the back of the tank that I used on my old tank. The biowheel is about 7 years old now and besides being grungy it does not spin as fast as it used to. I have cleaned the filter housing...

I have a 40gal stretch hex with live rock, two clowns, one chalk basslet, one turfmower blenny, 4 chromis, one oyster, one gorgonian and an odd assortment of mushrooms and sponges . . . I just upgraded my lighting to the following and am wondering if this is enough lighting for some of the...

    Mystery creature

I think the last verdict was mantis shrimp . . . it apparently cut her clown fish who then later died. It only came out at night and had one large claw that it would "click". . . science fiction movies don't even come close to this one!

    Mystery creature

My friend had a tank setup up for about 6 months and she kept having fish die - sometimes the fish showed disease, sometimes they just died . . . they seemed very stressed. In fact, all the fish in her tank seemed stressed. One night she heard a "clicking sound" coming from the tank and when...

    Fuzz on Coral

Everybody is not too close - I have 35gal hex tank with an overflow filter on the back. I've noticed this growing for some time, but did not think it was this aggressive. I currently have mushroom corals on one rock and the other rock has a multitude of corals and mushrooms on it, including...
