Hi. I placed the bottom rocks on the bare bottom. And then I pushed the sand around the rocks. Yeah it's does look like its on top. Lol.. I may get a shrimp to get the ammonia up faster.

Thanks for the input. Yeah the regal has the dc motor. My old skimmer years ago was just on control the flow with a valve. But the regal does have a much bigger price tag. Just not sure if Its worth it...

Well If the tank was setup up for 4 days then you may not have cycled the tank properly.. Also adding the fish without a proper cycling time did not give the bacteria needed to get set up...
