I'm building a hood when I go home for Christmas. Do I need to put a fan in the hood?

I got my new lights yesterday, 220w VHO's. Is there a acclimation period I need to use for them? I had 110w PC on for 11 hrs a day, should I leave the VHO's on for about 4 hours the first few days and extend from there? Also, when I build my hood, where should I put the balast, above the...

OH MY GOD IT WORKED!!! I've tried for along time to get a picture on here. You are looking at my 26g bow with 45lb LR and about 50lb LS. Current lights 110w PC soon to be 220w VHO's (Christmas).

I want to build a hood for my 26g bow so I can squeeze in a 24in 3 x 75w VHO retro. Anyone with any plans? or pictures... of any bow hoods? Also, how far off the water should the lights be and should I use any fans? Thanks, Jeff
