Stocking for a 180 gallon tank

I agree on skipping the Blue Line or Clown Trigger. The blue chine and niger triggers tend to be mellower. I have a three blue chin school (one male two females) in my 180 with a Sailfin and Purple Tang. No problems yet. You may also consider a cross hatch trigger, mellow and can school...

    Trigger school?

I have one male and two female blue throat triggers in a 180 gal tank. I started with the male then added the females about a month later. I was prepared before I started this may not work, that is why I put the male in first. If I had to chose I wanted a male instead of a female. They have...

    Pineapple Trigger?

Beach Bum, I have seen it, very cool looking. Does not have the black strips across the back like the one in your picture. LFS said, and looked up in Atlas, that this an adult coloring and will maintain it. Currently is about 5" they said the one that is 18" was sold about 5 years ago, and...

    Pineapple Trigger?

Went and looked at the "Pinapple" trigger. Once I saw it I realized that it is what I have seen reffered to as "Yellow Face" Trigger. Very cool looking but am concerned because the are reported to grow to 60cm in the wild. The LFS has sold them in the past and one is currently 18" libing in a...

    Crosshatch Trigger Tankmates

DPittman, I was talking to someone last night who said there is embargo with the area that Sargassum are from. So none have been imported for over a year. I don't know if this is true just heard it from a stranger at LFS last night. I decided to do a pair of bluechins instead of the...

    Crosshatch Trigger Tankmates

Beach Bum, I am in the same boat. I am doing a 180gal trigger tank, I have been researching for a couple of months. Based on potential size and temperment the Crosshatch and Sargassum shounded like good choice, everything saying they are "reef safe" and hardy. Scott Michael's book makes them...

    Crosshatch Trigger Tankmates

My 180 is done cycling and ready for fish, currently 100lbs. of live rock and 200lbs of sand (80 live, 120 southdown. I want to put in a pair of Crosshatch triggers; I was thinking of adding a Sargassum and Bluechin Trigger to the mix (total of four fish). Baseing this on all four fish maxing...

    new 100g plexi

Marc, I am getting back into salt water after ten years off, so I am learning all the new equipment. To start with 100 gals is going to be to small for sharks. Second I have not heard anyone using undergravel filters anymore. Third Crushed Coral is not good for sharks, need deep sand bed. You...

    back up power

I meant 7 seconds, if the power is off for more then 7 seconds the generator comes on automaticly. That is one of the big differences and cost difference from the portable $1,000 generators. If I am on vacation and the power goes out everything in my house stays on. Erik
