    Help, my clam looks stressed!!!

I am going to do a water test now. I have two metal-halide 175w 10000. I placed the clam directly under one of the lights but at the bottom of my tank. Should I move it higher? As for the rest of my problems my mushrooms and xenias grew together. I think that they were too close and the xenia...

    Help, my clam looks stressed!!!

I bought a blue max. clam, about 4". My fish guy told me that for him to do well I should place him on a rock. Well I did that and he kept falling over. I have given up on putting him on a rock and will let him be on my crushed coral base. I feel sick, it looks stressed. Besides just...

    Water change procedure?

Thanks for your reply. I have a RO/DI unit that I have fixed to automatically top off my tank. When I want RO water I just move the tube to my collecting tank. I usually have what I need by the next day.

    Water change procedure?

I am going to do a 10-15% water change. Does it matter if the lights are on or should they be off? I am making my water in a large container with a powerhead and a heater. Does it need to sit for a couple of days after I mix it or can I use it the same day?

    Clam

I purchased a blue max. clam about 3 wks ago. I put it on a rock but it still is not attached. As long as it looks fine should I leave it or should I try a different spot? I am having problems finding a flat enough rock. Every once in awhile it will fall over. (It is about 4").

    leaking 55 gal tank

Bummer, the stuff I bought was GE. Thanks for the tip. I will check my hardware store and see if they have what you suggest. My sump is in my workroom and I would like to set this tank up so I can put fish and other critters in it to look at. A good idea about the pond liner though.

    leaking 55 gal tank

Thanks for the tips. I did not use acetone but I scraped it clean with a razor and took my time. I wanted it to look as if it was brand new. (Not easy) I certainly gave it plenty of time to cure. I was told that all I needed was 100% silicone and I was very careful not to buy one that...

I need help! Buying equipment for my refugium

I have a 29gal bow with a glass top and a light strip. The bulb is a Perfect a lamp that is 15 watt. I am locating this tank above my sump. What would you suggest I get to bring the water up to and back down to the sump? I am assuming that 15watts is not enough, what do I need for lighting...

    leaking 55 gal tank

I was very careful to remove all of the old silicone. I used new silicone and it still leaks. I haven't looked yet to see where. Any other helpful hints. I was so careful the first time that I am not really looking forward to doing it over. Could I put another layer over the top?

    leaking 55 gal tank

I tried fixing my leaking 55 gal tank by removing the old silicone and replacing it. It still leaks. The tank is 20+ yrs old and has a number of dings on the inside from when it was a fresh water tank. The plastic also has some cracks in it. It certainly has seen better days but my...

    Elegance coral, dead...not dead

Thank you for the sympathy. I really want to try another one. I am not sure why but all of a sudden weird things are happening to my tank. I've always been one to add things slowly. Guess it will be awhile before I add something new.

    Elegance coral, dead...not dead

Yeah, I figured out how to post pics. Take a look at my poor elegance and tell me what you think. I've had this coral almost two weeks. It still has some color to it and until it has no flesh left I will hold out hope. Anybody had it look this bad and come back? :( I'm afraid it's a gonner.

Try again. This is what it looks like now, after the mushrooms and xenia attacked each other. All that was left was a lot of brown slime.

What's going on with my mushrooms?

Is the residual slime harmful? As I see more dead mushrooms I suck them out with a hose.

What's going on with my mushrooms?

I posted a message a couple of weeks ago stating that I had too many mushrooms, now they are dying. (I was willing to give them a new home, they didn't have to kill themselves.) It seems to be in one specific area where I also had pulsing xenia. I just let things happen naturally and the...
