    Scooter Blenny

My scooter is all over my tank too. He causes quite a sand storm too. I also have a starry blenny. When thery're in proximity of each other, my scooter's dorsal stands straight up and he looks really cool. I'm not sure of their exact role in nature, but my scooter uses his tail, stirs up the...

    Wanted: Chiller

I am in California and am looking for a good deal on a chiller for a 90g. Anyone looking to get rid of one let me know!

    RO/DI unit on the way

If you set your storage container on a shelf (high enough to get a container under it to mix water) everything can be gravity fed. That's the way I have mine and wouldn't have it any other way. My shelf is high enough I can store my empty mixing container (on wheels) under the water storage...

How often to do a water change

I tend to do about 10% weekly. I find this to be appropriate for my tank, but have heard varying opinions.

    Tangs

Will Yellow Tangs and Blue Hippo Tangs get along together OK in a 90 gallon? I have not read anything to the contrary, but I wanted some of your experiences.

    Yet another diatom question

So, I turned the lights out for about four days. I lit the tank up today, and the algae is gone for the most part. There are a couple little patches, but its mostly gone. The bits that are left are deep red in color and are stuck really good (kinda like coraline). The light trick works and...

    phosban in sump

I think they recommend 8 hours to two days max. I run it through a phosban reactor and it seems to help. (Although I currently have a red algae problem!!!)

With the lights off, there is no direct lighting hitting the tank. Just a small amount of ambient lighting.

    Yet another diatom question

I think I'm going to try the lighting method. I'm going to kill the lights for two or three days and see what happens. In the mean time, I'm going to baster those SUCKERS off my rocks and then place them on the HOT concrete in my driveway and KILL EM!!!!! I'm going to win this battle.

    Yet another diatom question

OK. So a little carbon took care of the smell, but my red algae is KILLING ME!!!! HOW DO I GET RID OF IT????? I cut back on the lighting and the feeding. All my livestock seem to be fine, however the snails are sluggish. Still alive though.

    Water loss/evaporation

Here's a few pics. It could also be gravity fed if you could get your top-off storage up high enough. My airline tubing runs from the powerhead to the float valve. Works great for me.

    ? about skimmer

If the $ ever allows, the Euro-Reefs are AWESOME. When I switched, I saw more skimmate in one night than in three or four days of my old one. Great addition.

    Water loss/evaporation

Here's an idea that works great on my 90 gallon. I lose about 2 gallons a day due to my running fans to keep it cool. What I did was purchase a 5 gallon rectangular glass tank, and placed it at the end of my sump. I also purchased an all plastic float valve and mounted it on the end of my...
