I just installed my first RO unit and was suprised that PH of the water is unchanged after going through it (10.2). I was expecting it to be neutral. Is this normal? I know I should be testing the effectiveness of the unit with a tds meter but, as of now, I don't have one. Thanks.

The spectrum info is here. I want to use Led becase I beleive in the long run they can be quite a bit cheaper considering they can last over 10 years.

I've been looking at retro fitting LEDs as the main lighting for a tank. I was going to use the same LEDs as the Solaris systems but I can't figure out which specific LEDs are used. I know they are Philips K2s or Rebels but which color do they use? I can't find info on the spectrum and I'm not...

I'm having touble with my camera so I don't have pics at the moment but it's dime sized and bright green with red tentacle tips.

I had to go out of town for the weekend and when I came back my paly had moved from the rock onto the glass and is now wandering all over the front of the glass. Is this normal or is it not really a paly?

It's definetly not a bryozoan. It looks more like Rhodophyta of some sort.

I have a bunch of brown algae growing on the rock and sand. Should I be worried? I did a small water change yesterday but it hasn't seemed to slow the growth.

Its all set up and has a couple of pounds of live rock in it. I got a really cool zoa on the LR. It is bright emerald green with bright red tentacle (?) tips. How long do I need to wait before I put some corals in? 2 weeks?

I only live about 2 hours away from college so I guess I'll just take it home. Would a shrimp do well in a tank this small??

The tank came in the mail a few days ago. I would like to set it up in my dorm room. If I just had corals in it would it survive ok over spring break (1 week) while I'm gone or would I need to take it home with me? Also, Would a shrimp such as a cleaner or coral banded do well in such a tank?
