Ok, maybe a stupid question but, what is the ultimate goal for your tank? Is the goal supposed to be getting your tank to the point where it is almost ‘self cleaning’? Are you supposed to get it to where all you need is the occasional water addition/change and maybe a little bit of glass...

Hey man, you have all my sympathies. I have been there/done that. I had a ruptured disk and was on my butt for a few weeks after surgery. I still feel it every now and then but it is a lot better than what it was before. Kind of scary knowing that they are going to be that close to your spinal...

I started out with a 55g and a ‘hang on the back’ type filter. Worked fine but was always a pain to clean. I moved to a 125g and discovered the self contained type filters. What I bought was a Rena XP3 which, so far, have fallen in love with. Much, much easier to maintain. As far as live sand...

I didn’t have the heart to ‘flush’ my damsels but my last one died thankfully. What I lost to the ‘evil’ fish was a fire fish, several shrimps (I wondered why the antennas on my cleaner shrimp kept growing shorter and shorter), and a few others. Needless to say, I lost several times worth ($$)...

Just my two cents worth but, I had the same problem with damsels that howardcu had. I used them to cycle my tank and left them in when I started to add the more expensive fish. The damesls being very territorial ended up killing several of them. I would recommend using green chromis (sp?) to...
