    Is All-Glass All-Good???

I have a 45 gallon tall All Glass aquarium that has been set up for 17 years, no leaks at all. The glass does bow slightly in the front(probably 1/8 inch overall deflection in the front glass) and I don't doubt that it will be going for another 10 years. After that, I may have to scrape the...

Just give it a week or so to break in and the bubbles should stop, if they don't, somebody here will know what to do.

    Is All-Glass All-Good???

Broomer, I delved a little farther on this subject and found that there is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the properties of glass. Presently, they no longer refer to it as a supercooled liquid but now call it an amorphous substance. It is the most unstructured solid that we know of...

    gravel replacement

My advice would be to add the sand bed (at very minimum 4 inches) get some live rock (whatever you can afford) and upgrade your lighting, you need at minimum 3 watts per gallon to really experience what the live rock, etc has to offer. This is cheaper than you think, you can get a decent setup...

    Is All-Glass All-Good???

mmslue, go with the Oceanic, you only pay for a tank once, women and cars cost you forever :D If I had my pick it would probably be a Mercedes SL55 AMG, only about 115Gs, a little higher I would go with a Ferrari. Honda and Acura are "get me there" Ferrari is "take me there" .

    Is All-Glass All-Good???

bdhough, the leaking in a tank is caused by the silicone separating from the glass, the amount of bow that occurs is easily met by the elasticity of the silicone. It is actually a factor of poor workmanship, stress or eventual degradation of the silicone (brittle). Any tank MFR worth it's salt...

    gravel replacement

If the tank is cycled (what do you have for livestock, do you have any LR?) then your wet/dry is performing nearly all of the nitrification, get the gravel out of there and replace it with 4-5 inches of fine sand. It would also be a major benefit to add some live rock to the tank to seed the...

    tiny bubbles, in my tank

How did you clean the collection cup? I always use extremely hot water from a kitchen faucet sprayer. No soap, no nothing. If you used soap or paper towels(they contain wetting agents, believe it or not...) proper operation will not resume for 5 or more hours.

    Is All-Glass All-Good???

mmslue, I agree with what you said, AGA being the honda, but Oceanic would be the Acura, not Lexus(made by TOYota) LOL:D

    Acclimating Tank

Probably a waste of time, especially considering the heat loss while the water is sitting in the "bag" so to speak. IV drip is way too slow unless you are talk about an extremely low volume of water. Quit worrying dude, temp and pH are way more important, test the bag water and proceed...

    have question burlin turbo hanging

    1. Reason for leaking unknown, perhaps someone else has seen this happen 2. Pump placement does not matter as long as it doesn't suck air or sand (or CC) 3. You cannot plumb any skimmer in the way you describe, the top of the skimmer MUST be above the water level, the only way you can use the...

Info on putting my 125 in a wall?

Osolow, I would support the tank with 4X4 posts every 12-16 inches(on center), with a 2X4 top rail for the tank to rest on. Good luck on this endeavor and we all await the beautiful pix!

    DIY liverock ?????

Don't mess with dyes, no idea what chemicals you may be putting in the tank. I've made LR in the past, you need to do 6-8 weeks of freshwater curing, then put in saltwater with a frozen shrimp or two, wait another 4-6 weeks and put it in the main tank. It will take a few months for the...

    Brass on RO unit

Nolo, I would say don't worry about the brass fitting on the input side, think about the miles of unknown material of pipe that the water passed through on the way to your house, then at least 20-30 feet of copper pipe inside your house. The important thing is not to allow the corrosive RO/DI...

    Anyone use a denitrator?

6 months, all of the bacteria are dead. Clean it out with hot water, let it soak and apply hot water under pressure, should get everything clean. Filtronics is now (apparently) Aquatronics. It will take at least 6-8 weeks for the bacteria to establish in the coils, but you may have constant...

    EcoSystem - something fishy?

I have no experience with "ecosystems filtration" but I can say that if you buy the filter system you would be cutting yourself short. The key to the system is the "miracle mud" not the filter itself, really it is a simple sump with the mud as a substrate. If you want to try this, skip the...
