Yes liverock has living things on them....dead rocks are dry and nothing is alive on them. You can turn dead rock live by seeding it with other live rock. I did that in my tank. I used about 30-40lbs of LR and then the rest is base rock(dead rock) but after about 3-4 months most of the rock...

My Choco Star will go on the sand bed and make all these small little hills all over the sand bed. Like he pulls sand under him and he sits there for about 5-10 minutes and then moves and does it somewhere else. I have been assuming that he is eating something that is in the sand but i dunno...

well the LR will help with the filtration process and to me makes the tank look ALOT better. And since you are cycling now i would go ahead and add the LR now. And also if your LFS didnt stress the importance of LR then maybe you should be looking for another LFS. You can have regular lights...

mine havent messed with any of my hermits or snails. But.....my hermits will take out a snail quickly when they fall. I have lost 2 so far. But my puffer is cool with my inverts.....he only eats krill and brine.

i thought after cycling your test results have to be consistent for a full week before the first water change.

i have a variety to clean up after my puffer......red, zebra, blue....all kinds.

will i get more or will the fish just eat them all?
