How to get the coraline to grow?

Reef Builder main components are Carbonate/Bicarbonate, Chloride and Sulfide salts, with mainly Sodium as the counter ion. The high percentage of Carbonate/Bicarbonate has to affect pH by definition as it is a buffer, but is probably at a ratio that will stabalize things around 8.1-8.2...

How to get the coraline to grow?

Ok, Bang Guy scared me regarding Borate in certain Seachem products, so I wanted to ask again regarding the Seachem Reef Builder or Advantage Calcium containing Borate/Boron. Here's their response; No they do not simply because your reef does not consume borate so there is no need to replenish...

How to get the coraline to grow?

Daisy, I think what Bang Guy was refering to was some recent articles about elevated Borate in Seachem salt. According to Seachem, Reef Builder and Advantage Calcium do not contain Boron at significant levels, only their salt mix for increased buffering capacity. I use Seachem Reef Builder...

How to get the coraline to grow?

What is the pH of your tank? My guess is that it may be a little low (7.9 - 8.0) with the Seachem products. My experience is coraline will grow better at higher pH (8.2-8.3), which is why dripping Kalk (CaOH), a basic solution, will raise your tank pH, resulting in more calcium carbonate...

54 gallon bowfront corner mixed reef profile

 How did you get all that equipment in your tank stand. I gave up on the idea of a refugium for my 54 corner. I had a stand and canopy custom madetank. I needed my system to be automated for at least a week at a time, which it turns out requires ~14 gallons of makeup water per week with...

Reef Tank Experiment - No Protein Skimming

PHP Code: however, if you are trying to achieve pristine water conditions, this is not a good idea IMO. Can you elaborate on this... Why would you not want nutrient rich water in a reeftank, regardless of what corals, plants, filter feeders etc... you are keeping? Chiton

plants going sexual...got to keep them separated

I have a lot of macros in my tank. I enjoy keeping all of my macros in with my corals in the main display. It's a challenge, and that's what makes it fun to me! Of these plants shown, the Caulerpa Mexicana and the Halimedas will occassionally go sexual, but not is mass quantities. The grape...

Reef Tank Experiment - No Protein Skimming

Hey my first post. Just found this message board. I've been skimmerless on my tank for about a year now. It broke and I never replaced it. Up until that point I had used a skimmer on all my reef tanks (for about 13 yrs) because that was the accepted and proven thing to do in the hobby, and it...
