Permenantly removing an RO unit ?

Hi Krusk, The unit was installed using a saddle valve, which looks like this : To shut it off you just tighten the tap which closes the hole in the pipe. Any ideas ?

Permenantly removing an RO unit ?

Hello all :) Im saddened to say that my saltwater tank is no more. I just couldnt afford to keep it running anymore - so the fish have gone back to the shop, the tanks been broken down and Im selling up :( Maybe Ill try again when Im older :D Anyway, to the point. Ive got a Kent Maxxima...

Need to know about a shark

I agree CraigJ - IMO, dont buy it - even if you were to buy the 300gal tank to go with it. Size isnt everything, its the experience that counts ;)

    Will this setup work ??

Well Im ot sure about that, as a general rule maybe - but I think the majority of people who keep the larger puffers like dogfaces, keep them with triggers. I personally keep a dog with a Niger and a bluejaw trigger, they get on fine - got to keep an eye on them though :D

    Will this setup work ??

Just to add to jwtrojan44's advice - I would refrain from keeping a Lionfish and a puffer together aswell, its quite common for them to show aggression towards eachother at feeding time, and the puffer always comes off worse. ie. It gets killed. I'd have to agree with jwtrojan44 - A Lion, Eel...

    Orbic bat???

Yep, theyre definately not reef safe, and grow to around 20" so would more likely to be suited to a 200gal tank. Theyre ugly too, dont you think ? ;)

    Will this setup work ??

A Harlequin Tuskfish would be pretty cool - grows to about 10" and is supposedly well suited with tankmates like triggers. HTH.

    puffer and cow fish...toxic???

Unfortunately I wasnt so lucky :( My yellow spotted boxfish died just before Christmas, and took everythng except the hermits with it. Killed off most my LR too! Anyone who's already got a boxfish or a cowfish, I'd seriously reconsider and think about whether its worth the risk keeping them...

    puffer and cow fish...toxic???

    puffer and cow fish...toxic???

Nope - The spotted puffer/golden puffer is actually a member of the boxfish family (meleagris) and CAN, and WILL poison your tank. There are more puffers that do this - I suggest if you were planning on getting one, be certain that its not one that will release any toxin. A dogfaced puffer for...

    Help with my Niger

He still isnt out  For the last few days I thought I'd lost him - but I just spotted his head poking out of some rock! I chucked a piece of krill down the side of the rock and saw it being snapped away by him. So he's alive and eating - just completely anti-social. I think Im gonna net...

    Brine Shrimp

Apology accepted ;) LOL only joking, I wasnt trying to throw that post back in everyones faces, it just sort of came out like that. :) I forgot about the joys of hatching brine shrimp...sad I know, but seeing all the little baby shrimp swimming around just after a day of sitting in some...

    Brine Shrimp

OK - first point, as much as I wish it was - this wasnt my 400 gallon tank. It said they were brine shrimp, but yes they could be pods I suppose. Articles Ive read on the net about hatching artemia have all stated to use water @ 80oF with a specific gravity between 1.020 -1.025. As quoted from...

    Brine Shrimp

Thanks for the input Kelly - At the moment Im hatching some Brine Shrimp using shell-less eggs. Not sure what variety they are - just the regular stuff you would use to feed fry or whatever. I know they only last 50 days, but ones Ive bought from LFS are pretty big, so I suppose like you say its...

    Brine Shrimp

I was just reading an article in a magazine about this bloke here in the UK who has a 400 gallon tank. Amongst the massive amounts of livestock, he has a colony of brine shrimp. Now I think thats pretty cool :D It would obviously make an excellent source of food for filter feeders, and he says...

    Help with my Niger

Dont flame me - but im afraid I dont quarantine any of my fish! :o I know the survival rate of any invert kept with a trigger is pretty slim, but the hermits were already established in the tank, so I took the chance and risked it. So far the puffer hasnt shown any interest, who can say about...

    Help with my Niger

He was in the tank on his own up until yesterday when I added a dogfaced puffer. Other than that theres just a couple of big blue leg hermits.

New Tank for Triggers, have a few questions

Nigers are great triggers. They are fairly passive(for triggers) and over time will not hide. Predator, does this mean in your experience that Nigers are reknowned for being quite reclusive ? I have a thread here about my newly added Niger that I havent seen in a week - any advice would be...

    Help with my Niger

Nope :( still aint seen him ! I hope he's ok. Ive been chucking chunks of krill down the side of the rock where I presume he's hiding out - so he's got to be eating. I added a dogfaced puffer yesterday, so maybe with the addition of another fish he'll relax a bit more and start to show himself...

    Help with my Niger

Thx for the reply CraigJ :) I had a feeling that other peoples triggers were quite bold throughout the day, why else would they be so popular! Its still obviously really annoying though, I cant see anything with all this rock - I wish he was out! As for him and the dog going in together, Im...
