Ive got 50/50 crush coral, live sand mixed together. My hermit crabs do a really good job keeping it all clean. Seems when i do water changes and i syphon the gravel i get amonia. So how important is it to shphon the gravel?

sorry worked 12 hour days all week. The fish are doing real good. The ich is gone no more white spots. The PH is up to about 8.0 as of 5:00 tonight, nitrates are about 60. so the crush coral gives the tank high nitrates, it is mixed 50/50 live sand. And i did mix the copper in the display tank...

Had tank going on about 7 months. i let my nitrates get a little high so i did a 30 gal water change out of my 75 gal and cleaned the canister filter for the first time. ever thing was cool nitrates still high. mixed up 30 mor gal but this time i syphond half the tank, this is about 5 days...

i have a 400 wt metal halide system that i used as a grow light. made by sunlight supply inc. now ive got a 75 gal that i would like to turn in to a reef tank. if i put a 250 wt bulb in the unit would it work for a reef tank?

i used one of thoes dipping sticks that reads that reads the five different things ph,alk,nitrite,nitrate,water hardness. Im pretty sure the test is right because my tank test ok. guess im gunna have to change mixing container. and i want to think every one for their imput. Its really helping...

so this shoud not of happend? How long does every one else let their water mix?:confused:

Got my 100 gpd ro/di unit couple week ago. Mixed up 15gal let sit in garage with a pump going for about 6 days. Went to do water change today so i tested the ro/di water. And there were levels of amonia,nitrite,and nitrate. Seems the water is cycling for some reason:thinking: So my question is...

Got 5 fish 1 eel some hermit crabs. think ill put 10lbs in today and 10 lbs in 3 days.

Do i have to cycle live sand in a seperate container are can i just put it in my already cycled tank? right now i have about 30 lbs cc would like to mix them together. Have just bought 20lbs live sand.:notsure:

had the same problem when i got my baby 3 inch red vilation. so what i did was frezz the rosies though one at a time and wiggle at the surface and hes been eating every day. Had him for about one week now.
